Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!
I mentioned here not too long ago that we were looking into a fiberglass or polyresin replica. Kind of fits with the way the Sauron helm was made, so that is how we should have done it to begin with. Still in development though, but looks promising that it wi...

Re: The Master Swordsmith's Collection: History and Serial Numbers

Ed, for your first post with the running total cost of the complete collection, the base price for the Strider's sword accessories was $6,900. This included Strider's Hero Scabbard, Hero Belt [with Tobacco Pouch & Sharpening Stone] & Scabbard Knife. My collection includes: Andúril -- #02 -- ...

MRL Lord of the Rings Costumes

Someone on the boards was looking for the MRL Lord of the Rings costumes recently, but I couldn't find the thread so I decided to started a new one. These are long out of production but I stumbled across them today at maskworld.com, and they have most of these items in stock. Mask World is located i...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

My Strider's sword and scabbard are tentatively scheduled to be completed by April 30th. This could slip another week. I wasn't e xp ecting it so quickly, and actually would have liked more time to fund this purchase. The next sword in the collection will likely become available for order soon after...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword
Well, even those blades were newly forged at some point, right? ;)
Having followed this thread from the beginning, I had to laugh at this post. A bit of comic sarcasm from the aged/weathered camp perhaps? A shiny new ringwraith sword is indeed hard to...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword
It also takes great carpentry skill to shape a wooden sword for practice but it's still not a real sword :coolsmile
LOL. True enough Sedhal. What I was really getting at is that Weta makes some of the finest props for the film industry today imo. As muc...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

Good discussion, and it is great to see the different opinions and the thought process behind them. So far, I count 5 people for the pristine version, and 3 for weathered. My order for Strider's sword is currently for the unweathered / satin finish. Yet I continue to wrestle with this decision, and ...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

A few questions to stir some discussion around Strider's Sword, and the continuation of this line... I'm curious if anyone has an opinion on getting Strider's sword with the standard Peter Lyon satin finish, or if you would go for the aged/weathered finish that is true to what is seen in the films? ...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

Hope this helps clarify the open question around edition size, and if Weta will be faithful to the stated ES on the Master Swordsmith's Collection... Received confirmation from Weta that they will not be creating any additional swords beyond the stated edition size in the Master Swordsmith's Collect...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

Well... as someone who is investing in this collection, if Weta goes back to Anduril for example, and starts mucking with the edition size... I won't be happy. Part of the value of any collectible is the edition size, and that needs to be a set/known amount. I don't want to end up saying that my And...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword
Call me strange, but I don't like Weta's nice little policy of giving people who purchased a Peter Lyon sword in the past dibs on future swords.
A fair and valid opinion Jamanticus. I puchased Anduril #2 along with the scabbard and belt set. Having d...

Re: Weta launches new site!

Time to weigh in I guess. I lurk on this site often, but have rarely posted. I've got Anduril #2 on order with Weta, so I think between Ed, Night Rider, and myself we account for Anduril's #1, 2 and 3. Pretty amazing. My order originally included all the extras (sword with mirror polish, sharpening,...

Re: legolas fighting knives

I own two sets of the Legolas knives and they are both the Taiwan production runs with the carmel/orange handle color. This was always a dissapointment to me, and I wished they had made the handle color lighter. Seeing the picture of the "new" runs in this thread with the cream colored han...

Re: Shadow Dale Creations

Here's a review of the horn. I don't do reviews very often, so please forgive the clumsiness. Looks - 4.5 out of 5 The look of the horn is the closest I have seen to the actual movie prop. Definitely no mistaking this is the horn of Gondor. Minor difference in the shape of the fitting on the end of ...

Re: Shadow Dale Creations

By some quirk of timing/fate, I received the horn today! I'm at work and haven't been home yet to check it out, but my wife informed me we received a package from SDC and when she opened it there was a horn inside. I'll give a brief review and try to post some pics as soon as I get a chance. Initial...

Re: Shadow Dale Creations

I posted a reply to this some time ago, but it was apparently lost. Just wanted to also pass along my warning against ordering from Shadow Dale Creations. I had this same e xp erience with them. Ordered a Horn of Gondor and promptly paid $400 for it. Over a year later, I have received nothing, and S...

Re: UC Limited Wishlist

Here are some more thoughts for the wishlist. I tried to think of items that seemed likely to sell well. Also tried to stay focused on cutlery, with the notable exception of Boromir's shield and the Horn of Gondor. Some of these items have also been suggested by others. Top 4 "Bad Guy" ite...

Re: Strider's Coat

Museum Replicas Limited (MRL) also produced a Strider coat. Although they have discontinued their LOTR line, you could probably still find a reseller on-line that has it in-stock. I own one of these and thought it was pretty close for accuracy... all leather, real stiching, no zippers or pockets. Ev...

Re: LOTR Display

If you can find them, I would probably recommend adding the following to your collection/display: Noble Staff of Gandalf the Grey - this was cast from the actual prop. Since you already have Glamdring, the staff wouldn't be critical, but it is cool and ties to one of the central characters. UC Shard...
