Re: Uc witchking dagger

Yes I definitely will be getting one of Kit's damascus Mithrodins. I too have the MC Glamdring; have you ever tried to unscrew the pommel? I would try but don't want to risk damage. The MC Glam is my absolute favorite out of my collection.
Springstorm, that ...

Re: Uc witchking dagger

Kit thanks a million for the input! Anyhow, it is good to know that the Witchking dagger’s tang extends all the way down into the pommel - definitely makes it a sturdier weapon. This is sort of off subject but speaking of functional combat steel I noticed you have a Damascus functional version of th...

Re: Uc witchking dagger

The appearance is much rustic in person. The white reflection cause by the external flash on my Canon DSLR is powerful and gives it a shinier appearance. I should have taken the photos without the f lash. The color is true to this particular scimitar; I have seen slight variations in color and textu...

Re: Uc witchking dagger

The Uruk-Hai Scimitar isn’t much more than a meat cleaver but I still like it anyway haha! It has interesting texture not unlike the Witchking Dagger.
LOL I love how they boast the ugliest sword being made of the best materials! :)
I apologize in adv...

Re: Uc witchking dagger

I would agree that most of the UC LOTR Stainless Blades would not hold up to extreme use with the exception of the Elven Knife of Strider. That is one dagger that is impressively durable, full tang, and the blade is approximately a quarter inch thick. It is as strong as week old coffee stewing in a ...

Re: Uc witchking dagger

Excellent photo of the texture. The weathered appearance is phenomenal. Thanks for photographing. I was wondering if this blade is full tang? I may have missed this earlier in this thread. Also has anyone had any luck sharpening the dagger? The indentions would make sharpening perplexing. [quote=&qu...

Re: Witchking Dagger Now for Preorder! And Many other things you might be interested

The Witchking Dagger is very impressive looking. Has anyone had a chance to review it and post feedback on the dagger?
Also, is it full tang and does it come sharpened?
Any opinions on the new dagger would be great!

Re: Long time no see

I hope the do aquire the LotR license, but with the Hobbit not being really in the pipeline and a decreasing interest in the LotR stuff I hight doubt it. I got the chance to see the LotR exhibition here in Germany last week and I really saw a lot of stuff that I really would like to get (it´s a pit...

Re: UC1120BBA Sword of Darkness Black Edition

I belive it is powder coated. I know the gold was done by masking the black spaces and dipping/spraying it with gold to coat it. thanks for the info. I figured it was powder coated. I have a Smith and Wesson blade that claims to be a titanium based powder coating and it is very durable. I have yet ...

Re: The Hobbit

Anyone know when they actually lose the rights to the The Hobbit? This is from Wiki and establishes 2009 (assuming January 1st) as the date in which the movie has to be finished or at least in full production or the rights revert to “Saul Zaentz and The Saul Zaentz Company. The worldwide distributi...

Re: Seeking enthusiasm

Welcome Sam. Sounds like you have a great craft there. I took a course at UofH on metal smithing and forged one sword and one dagger. We worked with other items besides blades as well. That is the extent of where I went with it. They both took quite a length of time to complete. I was happy with my ...

Re: The Hobbit

...Thus, the third scenario mentioned, which is actually my first choice, is that New Line will just be out of the picture (pun completely intended,) and PJ is given free rein by whomever to do the Hobbit his way. I completely agree and hopefully for LOTR fanatics PJ will get to finish his legacy w...

Re: Salutations and Greetings from the land of little Texas

I have them both and they are gorgeous. Though I have opened it, my Elven Shield is still in the box because I didn't have any place to mount it. It is pretty big. The quality on both are great though. Additionally, they are being sold pretty cheap and usually in a pair for the both of them. I have...

Re: The Hobbit

It is doubting that New Line will let go of such a potential cash phenomena as the Hobbit, as greed fills their blood. I found this sarcastic statement by Shaye on Wiki “Rumors about Sam Raimi (of Evil Dead and Spider-Man fame) directing The Hobbit are still in negotiations, and Raimi has said that ...

Re: The Hobbit

...many of the weapons seen in the movie and later sold by UC were never described at length by Tolkien in the books, and many were created solely for the movies. I would cite Aragorn's Ranger Sword, Arwen's Hadhfang, and Legolas' Knives as examples of blades that were prominent in the movies yet n...

Re: The Hobbit

The only other two blades that appear prominantly in the film is Glamdring, which you already know and Orcrist... That would be phenomenal to see another 1000 second edition Museum Collection of Gandalf’s Glamdring, since I was never able to get one at a price that wouldn’t force me to sell my hous...

Re: Salutations and Greetings from the land of little Texas

I am still missing one sword - Eleven War Sword. I figure I'll find that in some hole in the wall shop one day...hopefully, and not have to pay a fortune for it. Cheers :) That would be hilarious to find that one in some decrepit old shop where they don’t know what people are shelling out for it. W...

Re: The Hobbit

When they finally do release The Hobbit movie, does anyone speculate that the MC Sting sword will jump in value? The UC mass production Sting? From my remembrance of the book (which I read many many moons ago) the Sting was the primary blade in it. Also what other swords/weapons were dominant in the...

Re: Salutations and Greetings from the land of little Texas

Welcome! I too am a LOTR freak (check sig). This a great forum with a bunch of great people. I am sure you will enjoy it. Again - welcome!! Cheers. That is an inspiring and thorough collection you have. I am still hammering away at my collection as the cash flow will allow. Unfortunately, vendors w...

Re: What is the best LOTR sword/blade made in the United Cutlery Line up?

Celeborn, I am typing my comments in blue italics over your text. Here are my opinions on the various swords and axes: Both of the axes were very well made and I think look very nice. Supposedly neither of the axes (Gimli's battle axe and the walking axe) sold well. Something I don't understand sin...

Re: What is the best LOTR sword/blade made in the United Cutlery Line up?

Thanks for the info. There does seem to be sort of a frenzy for collectors to finish up their wants. Hopefully someone on the forum will decide to sell their collection and I can get it at a fair price. But I would like to avoid duplicates. But like you I imagine people who did spend the time collec...

Re: Long time no see

I completely agree with what Valkrist said. Even if the new UC/BudK did aquire the LOTR license; it would be a brash move on their part to remake all the original LOTR line up. Moreover, collectors would still want the first editions over the new stock. And, I heard that the smithing facility where ...

Re: Salutations and Greetings from the land of little Texas

What pieces do you have in your collection so far? Its not entirely to late to find some of the swords, but as you said, it is becoming more difficult these days and the prices keep going up. Right now my horde consists of the following, but again I am trying to increase the collection before costs...

Salutations and Greetings from the land of little Texas

I am fairly new to the forum. I decided it was time I officially introduced myself. I am an avid LOTR devotee and collector of UC licensed LOTR blades. A little obsessive but I have managed to stay out of the insane asylum. I initially found this site while browsing for news on the demise of the ori...

Re: Long time no see

If you don't already know, Uc has been bought by BudK, and they are in the process of negotiating the reacquisition of the LOTR line. If they succeed, it remains to be seen what direction they will take with it. These news have come to us via Kit Rae and Justin. Valkrist, Do you have any inside inf...
