Re: Rivendell Environment

Today, I received my Rivendell environment. I was impressed with the level of detail. Like others, I tried figuring out where they could've done the council scene. I wish they had put some small chairs at the platform where the scene was. Plus, they did a phenomenal job packing it so it wouldn't be ...

Re: The Hobbit

Have any of you heard anything on Hugo Weaving coming back to play Elrond? I haven't seen anything myself. He was a great Elrond.

Re: The Hobbit

I really liked the music he wrote called "Concerning Hobbits." It was one of my favorite pieces from the music of all three movies. The music he composed for all three movies was outstanding. I've been to a live performance of the Lord of the Rings symphony and, I enjoyed it enormously. It...

Re: The Hobbit

That would be cool to be an extra in the movie. Just to be able to say you'd been in the movie. Plus, it would be something to get to see the movie being made.

Re: The Hobbit

You got that right Legion. I can't wait to have another dose of the magic of Middle Earth. The 3 Lord of the Rings movies were so awesome. I still marvel at how well they were made.

Re: Dark Days in Entertainment

I don't see the big fuss if one of these celebrities dies. People die every day. Is being a celebrity suppose to give you a pass on dying? Also, why are people so consumed with these celebrities? While I can appreciate their music in Wacko Jacko's case or their acting in Farrah Fawcett's case, I'm n...

Re: The Hobbit

I have to agree that he looks like a Hobbit and has a close resemblence to Ian Holm. I'll be glad for more information on the movie. I wish they would move it. I can't wait to see the movie and get to go back to Middle Earth again. It's been a long time since the magic of the Lord of the Rings movies.

Re: United Cutlery 2008

Scabbards for Herugrim, Eowyn's sword and Hadhafang would be really nice. Boromir's shield would be awesome however, I think they would have problems with size of it. It was a big shield. Gandalf the Grey's staff would be nice too. I wonder if United Cutlery is going to hold off coming out with new ...

Re: The Hobbit

I wish they could've held off putting their limited funds on various risky movies until they made the Hobbit and its follow-up. The Hobbit is a sure mega-hit. Plus, the fans have waited too long for it already.

Re: The Hobbit

I'm with Sweeny. I don't want del Toro to direct the two films. I want Peter Jackson to direct them. That way, there would be continuity and the same vision of Middle-Earth.

Re: The Hobbit

I'm delighted that Bob Shaye will be shown the door. He certainly deserves it considering how he treated those who worked for the company such as Peter Jackson and the actors/actresses who appeared in the Lord of the Rings movies. I wonder if the deal with Jackson was a last gasp attempt by Shaye to...

Re: The Hobbit

Peter Jackson needs to direct "The Hobbit." That way, you would have the continuity and the same vision that you had in The Lord of the Rings. If Raimi directs, you are going to have a different perspective and it won't jell with The Lord of the Rings. I hope they do come to some agreement...

Re: I finally sold my house!

Congrats Olorin! I've heard the housing market has slumped out here in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area too. One 55-plus development that they're building right now was supposed to build 3 more condo units but has allegedly put them on hold until they sell more of the ones they've already finished...

Re: The Hobbit

It sounds to me like Mr. Shaye would like end the hostilities between him and Jackson. The fact that New Line has had 3 lacklustre films at the box office may be encouraging him as New Line's star has faded some because of that. A studio needs to have at least 1 hit movie every once in a while and N...

Re: The Hobbit

Sam Raimi made the following comment about "The Hobbit" in an upcoming Entertainment Weekly interview "First and foremost, those are Peter Jackson and Bob Shaye's films. If Peter didn't want to do it, and Bob wanted me to do it — and they were both okay with me picking up the reins — ...

Re: What is the best LOTR sword/blade made in the United Cutlery Line up?

Here are my opinions on the various swords and axes: Both of the axes were very well made and I think look very nice. Supposedly neither of the axes (Gimli's battle axe and the walking axe) sold well. Something I don't understand since UC did a great job with both. As far as knives and daggers, both...

Re: The Hobbit

I thought Jackson's idea of remaking King Kong was bad but making a live version of the Powerpuff Girls cartoon is many times worse. YUCK! I wish they would get things sorted out so Jackson could make The Hobbit.

Re: The Hobbit

How much time does New Line have to make its version of "The Hobbit" before it loses its access to the rights to make the film? Don't they e xp ire in 2009? I think once New Line loses the film rights, we'll see action on with MGM/Zaentz and Jackson. Unfortunately, that means we'll have to...

Re: Swords from Eragon the Movie

I looked at the pictures of the Eragon blades and I wasn't impressed. The blades look like kitschy crap. I agree with defyitall that the concept artists tried to come up with something unique looking and ended up creating something that is weird and in my opinion looks like junk. Arya's sword is rea...

Re: The LOTR Exhibition

The gift shop also enables you to see and touch the items. That helps you see absolutely if they are something you really want to buy. On the internet, you take a chance that any item you buy there might not what you think it is. In the case of the fellowship cloak, you wouldn't guess based on the S...

Re: The LOTR Exhibition

Sounds like the LOTR cloak is a very e xp ensive costume cloak. I don't need to look like a member of the fellowship at a cost of $900. Yikes! The overnighter could be scary but, it could also be fun. I'm glad the exhibition is doing well. The dinner sounds nice. If I was in the Indianapolis area, I...

Re: The LOTR Exhibition

Thanks for the post. I was wondering how the exhibition was. I'll be seeing it December 22nd and, I'm really looking forward to it. It would be neat to see the differences between the steel, aluminum, and plastic blades. Concerning the Fellowship cloak, it has to be imported all the way from New Zea...

Re: LOTR Symphony Schedule

The Council of Elrond website ( www.councilofelrond.com ) had more dates for performances of the LOTR Symphony. They are: 10 - 11 February 2006 - National Orchestra of Lyon, Lyon, France 10 - 12 Feburary 2006 - Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Howard Shore, Cleveland, Ohio 10 - 21 May 2006 - Colorad...

Re: hi!

Welcome FA2100. In regards to your quest to get some decently priced Legolas daggers and sheaths, I don't think that's crazy. People here collect different things. Some concentrate on the Sauron and the Nazguls, others the Dwarves, or the Elven weapons. It all depends on what you're interested in. I...

Alan Lee Book Signing Itinerary

Greetings all, I don't know how many of you are fans of Alan Lee's Lord of the Rings art but, I know I'm one of them. Sadly, he won't be coming to Baltimore or Washington D.C. to promote his latest book. Here is the itinerary I got off of: www.aintitcool.com . He'll be signing copies of his newest b...

Re: Updates...

You would think New Line would want to milk the profits for all their worth from the LOTR line since profits from the line are declining. I would think they would be more willing to release licenses vice tightening up on them as you suggest Necromancer. The only way I can see New Line tightening up ...

Re: Updates...

It is really unfortunate that the line is dying and I guess drawing to a close. There are so many things I wish UC would still make. One thing I really like about the LOTR line is that the stuff is so beautiful and so well made. Prior to the LOTR line, a lot of blades I'd seen out there looked tacky...

Re: LOTR Symphony Schedule

I did some searching on Ticketmaster Anarion and far as I could find out the Symphony won't be performed any time soon in Boston. It will be performed in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 14th; and Nashville, Tennessee on November 5th. Maybe you'll have better luck then I did. For EHmasterJedi, I ch...

Re: LOTR Symphony Schedule

You should enjoy the concert Brego. The music is awesome. I got to see the Symphony performed in Richmond, Virginia back on May 14th. It was great.

I envy anyone who got to see the Pittsburgh performances. It would've been neat to see Billy Boyd.

Re: Fakes in the Burbank Mall

I wish we could do peace bonding and be allowed to bring swords into the Maryland Ren Fen Defyitall. It would be so neat to take one of my Lord of the Rings blades to the festival. It would give me greater incentive to dress the part of the festival. Oh well. I'll have to search the web and see if t...

Re: I'm Fine

It looks like you didn't suffer too much damage. It's a shame about your ponds. You had those set up very nicely. At least you were able to save your turtles. It is also too bad about your sister's house. Still, overall I think you should count your blessings. It could've been a lot worse.

Re: Fakes in the Burbank Mall

Defyitall, you aren't kidding. That is lax. Still, it must have been cool to get to wear one of your LOTR blades. I wish I could do that one of the festivals here. Do you know if UC took any action against the folks that were selling fake LOTR blades? Just curious. Also, how do you peace bond a blade?

Re: Fakes in the Burbank Mall

Defyitall, they actually allowed people to wear those blades at the Ren Faire? At the Maryland Renaissance Festival, you're not allowed to take in any type of blade weapon. I have seen them allow kids to take in wooden swords but not real blade weapons. I wish the Maryland festival would allow peopl...
