Clash of the Titan's Replicas from NECA - Absolute Garbage

I just saw first hand the replicas of Perseus Swords from the new Clash film at my local knife shop. All I can say is, this is one of the worst pieces of garbage I have ever seen. At over $200, this is a complete ripoff. At $20 this would be a ripoff. These are worse than the worst Pakistan LOTR rip...

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010

I agree that more depth on the Olympians would have been better. We got much more of that in the old film. I had no problems with Zeus' portrayal in this one though. The central Titan in this version was not him though, it was Hades. The Titan's story all revolved around Hades and what he was attemp...

Re: Battle of the Last Alliance - Sauron vs The Numenorean Army

What bugs me about this is Sauron's helm. The face shape is not correct, and the spikes curve inward. They should be straight. Maybe it just bugs me so much because I have the UC helm on a shelf in front of me, which is dead on to the prop pix and what I see in the film. Seems like just about every ...

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010
The studio chopped this film up pretty badly. It's now evident, based on critics and movie goers that what they did to the film was the wrong route to take. I reckon we'll get a nice "Director's Cut" eventually and the film might actually garner some ...

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010
Here's an article about what Clash 2010 was about before drastic re-editing turned it into a different movie. Needless to say, spoilers.... http://chud.com/articles/articles/23299/1/BY-ZEUS-THE-VERSION-OF-CLASH-OF-THE-TITANS-YOU-DIDN039T-SEE/Page1.html
...

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010

Real metal replica I assume means "cast metal". The images online don't look that great, and Neca's props have been a bit on the crappy side in the past. I'm not that interested in anything from this film, but I would suggest waiting on some real photos before getting one.

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010

Not many closeups of her face that I recall. The animation is not terrible like the I Am Legend crap, but just not as good as the other stuff n the film. You notice it's CGI, and you shouldn't. I popped in the old DVD for my nephews when we got home and we watched the Medusa scene. The new CGI is st...

Re: Clash of the Titans 2010

I read some of the reviews yesterday, strictly to see if this is worth seeing in fake 3D, or just the regular film. Reviewers are all over how terrible the 3D is, so I decided to see the standard. I have already learned not see a movie that was converted into a rushed 3D after it was shot. Most of t...

Re: Giving Character to some of these UC replicas!

Really superb work. You may be aware of this, but anywhere you removed the clear coat, the plating underneath will start to oxidize over time. I tried to fix up a mark on one of mine, saw the clear coat was flaking. Then I thought I may as well remove the rest with Acetone. I think it was only withi...

Re: Alien prequel

I still have the first Sony betamax hi-fi player in my garage. I have the first one with Surround sound. Those were the days. I took the extra scenes from the Alien LD and cut together my own "special edition" that ran about 7 minutes longer on Beta. Ridley's directors cut is almost exactl...

Re: Alien prequel

No kidding. I actually have those LD's, but it has been a looong while since I have popped those in. Cameron's LD extras were the best, and probably helped lead the way most for what we have today. Man, we have come a long way since those LD's though.

Re: Alien prequel
Ridley's and the screenwriters' intent in the first Alien was that the warrior was only going to live about 24 hour! This is discussed in the commentary or some of the documentaries. They call out that supposedly you can detect that its skin slowly changes color...

Re: Alien prequel

What is interesting is that Ridley and Sigourney actually talked on the Alien audio commentary for about five minutes about how much more interesting it would be to go back and do a prequel rather than Alien 5, and Ridley specifically talked about e xp laining the Space Jockey, where the alien came ...

Re: Alien prequel

Don't get me wrong, I love Aliens, I was just not that thrilled on my initial viewing. Being a HUGE fan of the first film, it was a let down, but moreso because it was not a horror film, and not in the same tone as the first. After seeing Cameron's extended cut on laser disk I appreciated the film m...

Re: Alien prequel

I think with what Fincher had to work with and was thrown into on Alien 3 - replacing a fired director, no prep time, sets already being built, story just rewritten - he did an excellent job with it. As a follow up to Aliens it was a let down simply because of the type of film it followed and the fa...

Re: Alien prequel

I'll take a wait and see attitude. The AVP films trashed the series for me, so I am not as interested to see it continue. But Ridley is not the same person he was back then, and I think he will have a completely different take on that universe now than he did back then. I don't see Ridley doing a re...

Re: Vorthelok Sword of Arnal

I got lucky. Mine is #12. Kit's newsletter said there is only going to be the autographed print FPO version made for this one. No regular version after that. Odd that this is a first production run when there will be no second, unless he plans on changing something later.

Re: Kit Rae swords.

The pommel looks great in person. The photos don't do it justice. I love that mirror polish down the fuller too. I don't like the gold versions either, but I like the runes down the fuller on the gold version.

Re: Question Regarding Anduril Flame of the West

I don't think they are aluminum. The sword would weigh about half if that were so. Plus I don't think you can plate cast aluminum, and having damaged a few swords with this hilt finish, I know it is some kind of plating. There is some kind of clear coating over it. I had a mark in one of my sword po...

Re: Uc witchking dagger
ed209, Tooth paste? Troll? Gotta chip on your shoulder today? Polishing steel isn't anything new to the world. Black shoe polish got rid of the pretty shiny blade and made it look great. As far as protection is concerned; why do these blades come oiled down? ...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland

My wife saw the Syfy mini series and said it had most of Through the Looking Glass in it (second book), but she also looked it up a found there were several other Alice films that had parts of Looking Glass in them going way back to the thirties. There was a Hallmark movie that had parts of Looking ...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland
Hey Dom, not that familiar with the Alice mythos, so bear with me... but is the fact that Alice is older have anything to do with another movie that was done a while back where she returns to Wonderland when she is, in fact, older? Is that the second book, and...
I guess Christopher Lee had limited screen time because of his age. He's, let's see (have to look it up) ...87. Too bad he might not be in The Hobbit for the same reason---age. What a shame. And yet he is in AinW so maybe he will consider doing a small role in t...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland
I haven't seen it yet... but two of my close friends saw it. Friend #1 said " It wasn't dark enough ..." and Friend #2 said " It had no heart, and besides the 3D thing, it was pretty mediocre ." What a shame. :(
It was pretty dark f...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland
But the reviewers I read in general I tend to agree with most of the time. And just for the record, they all raved about Sweeney Todd, which is why I saw it, even against my inner Early Warning System. Should have listened to my EWS on that one. And true, it is...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Funny. Understandable if you don't like Burton, but you have clearly not seen the film. You are wrong on just about everything you have said. This is not a remake of anything. Hatter is not 20 feet tall. This is not based on the first book, but more on elements from the second, which has never been ...

Re: T. Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I saw it last night. I don't like all of Burton's films, but I think next to Edward Scissorhands, this is his best work. Probably the best visual Burton film he has done - it's beautiful to look at and all of his trademark zaniness is there on screen - but the characters are really good too. As long...

Re: A Song of Ice and Fire! - HBO

I tried to get into Deadwood, but failed. Didn't see Carnivale. I watched the first two episodes of Rome, and thought, eh. Then later I saw another one towards the end of season one that blew me away. Then I went back and watched the whole thing. Should have stuck with it from the first. Just like a...

Re: Kit Rae swords.

Re: Kit Rae swords.
Geez, let's try again...Then what is fantasy? What makes them fantasy weapons ?
I think we are just going in circles, but with regards to this work - the designs, the fantasy art that the weapons originated from, the mythology behind them. Fantastical de...

Re: Kit Rae swords.
I said "taking" not talking. And your reply only proved my point -- you're taking a fairly big genre and attempting to deduce it to a sword/knife market.
Sorry, but no, I am just talking about the fantasy weapon market.

Re: Kit Rae swords.
So? The two of them together still have everything to do with this discussion. Look at how many inspirations Kit draws from their work.
Indeed, he has said Ron's designs for Conan were a big influence on him. Just pointing out that Jody gets credit for s...
