Re: The Hobbit

Terrific news! Although there may be other locations around the world which would have been suitable for filming, NZ was definitely the way to go if at all possible. Middle Earth just wouldn't have been the same anywhere else. Fantastic!!!
I don't mean to sound like some crazy patriot, with my last point also being quite "patriotic", but Norway would be perfect. It's a known fact that Norway's nature is almost identical to New Zealand's.
Norway would be a good choice. Possibly Ca...

Re: The Hobbit

Yeah, talking trolls in the Hobbit definitely wouldn't make sense considering they didn't talk in LOTR. I could get past Smaug or any of the other creatures speaking, but I just know that I personally would enjoy the movies even more if they didn't. The whole talking animals thing never worked for m...

Re: The Hobbit

I think it'll be interesting to see how PJ pulls off the whole talking Smaug thing. That is the ONLY thing I didn't care for when reading the Hobbit. Even though it wouldn't be staying true to the original story, a part of me hopes they refrain from giving Smaug dialogue. I will gladly see the movie...

I agree completely! I think he would be great in the role. Double :thumbs_up

Re: The Hobbit

YES!!! The two movies are finally going to be made, AND Peter Jackson is set to direct. Fantastic!

Re: Faramir's Sword.

Yep! I'm guilty of doing the same. Although I'm happy to add more obscure swords to my LOTR collection, it's still pretty irritating that UC is taking their sweet time in producing the more requested swords in a timely manner. I personally think they'll produce them eventually though. Right now they...

Faramir's Sword.

This is one sword that I would love to add to my collection. I think I just like it's overall look. It isn't an extremely powerful looking sword, nor an overly fancy looking one. To me it has a very balanced look to it. If UC does eventually come around to making Guthwine, I really hope Faramir's wi...

Re: Rumour concerning swords from 'The Hobbit'

I may be wrong here, but I get the impression I struck a nerve with some of you fine people. :) Don't worry. These items would have to be pretty darn spectacular for me to consider purchasing any of them permanently affixed to the base. And that idea alone already makes them sound less than spectacu...

Re: Rumour concerning swords from 'The Hobbit'

Ya know. I'm just trying to be a " the cup is half full " kinda guy. :) I agree 100% that it makes absolutely no sense to produce a line of products that can't truly be enjoyed by the buyer other than to just look at. If that's the case, people may as well just go out and buy any old pictu...

Re: Rumour concerning swords from 'The Hobbit'

I can't say that I wouldn't collect some of these items permanently attached to the plaques because they would probably look just as good on the wall as weapons not permanently attached. BUT, there is just something about being able to actually hold and feel the weapon in your hand that makes it mor...

Re: Haldir's sword

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of how Hadhafang is displayed on a base instead of a plaque. It would've been so much nicer if it had been displayed similar to the Elven Warrior Sword. I think the base takes a lot away from the overall look of the sword.

Greetings!

Hi everyone. I have been visiting this forum for quite some time and finally joined a couple of days ago. I am a huge LOTR fan and love the UC replicas from the movies. I recently got back into collecting and I look forward to frequenting the forum and chatting with fellow collectors. :)
