Re: The Hobbit by Noble Collection

Hey just got my Noble Sting from the Hobbit. As you all know the Hobbit sting is the same size as the UC version not the actor scale of their LOTR version. First impressions are very positive and I am happy I went with the NC version this time out. I posted pics alongside the UC LOTR version so you ...

Re: New Conan (Original) Blades from Windlass

At that price gotta at least give'em a try. Just like Sed I would swear I was looking at pictures of the marto sword. Maybe they will be different in the final version. I think the blade geometry bothers me more then the mistake in the hilt castings, speaking of which wonder what they are made of?

Re: Conan Swords Return to Albion

Nice! Is that the original though? I heard he also has one of the Albions...? Correct that is not an original from the movie. I am almost positive it is one of the "Special Editions" that were originally sold by Albion in 02 for $10,000. There were only to be 10 made. John Milius has the ...

Re: Jeffrey Robinson custom

Hi Darlak, the sword is $2,700. Jeffrey had made a very close copy to the Atlantean. (he has pictures on his site) But since Albion had reacquired the license and his own artistic need he wanted to make something different. When I e-mailed him about changing the sea dogs he asked if I would be inter...

Re: Jeffrey Robinson custom

I really like the grip. Its sort of a mix between the Atlantean and the Destroyer. The original grip of the 1st movie sword was a rope material that was pretty rough on the hands. The leather robe gives you a good grip without pain :) . Oh blade is 1075 high carbon steel that is hardened and tempere...

Jeffrey Robinson custom

Hi all, I wanted to share a custom sword I had made for me by Jeffrey Robinson. http://www.bronzebyjeffreyjrobinson.com/ The idea was to make a sword that was patterned after the Conan Atlantean but changing the symbolism. I have owned two of the Albion Conans. I had number 20 which I bought back in...

Re: The Hobbit

I got a FB newsfeed from WETA with the vid. Was really great to see this but was little bummed about the two year time line. :(

The Pieta and Shards

In looking at the shards recently for a display I want to do something struck me. I have seen this before, we have a small statue of Micheal Angelo's Pieta. To me it looks very similar to Shards of Narsil or vis versa. Is it just me, and do you thing its just a coincidence or deliberate? http://i144...

Re: Rivendell Environment

Boy I dont know if its going to come in even at $450. This looks closer to a $600 price tag, but heres hoping. I really like the environments better then the statues or busts. I feel like they need a different or dedicated display layout.

Re: The Hobbit
Yeah, it's enough to rupture a bleeding ulcer.
When I first read about it I actually wondered if all the stress in getting the right to do the film along with the other problems caused it. Hope hes ok.

Re: Faramir's Sword.
I am sure that copying another's work is the same in all mediums, whether it would be something I am used to, such as plagiarism in scientific writing, or copying a design of a sword. What I don't really get is the fact that they are using the actual names of the swords, ...

Re: Faramir's Sword.

There are reasons that intellectual property is the way it is. Or no one other then Ford would be able to build a car. May not be fair but if its not exact then its legal. (Before the nit pickers start I know ford didn't invent the automobile, just making a point). And beauty is in the eye of the be...

Re: Faramir's Sword.

I really appreciate the inspired by swords :thumbs_up . Some are done better then others but to be able to get a sword that resembles the real deal and do something more then hang it on the wall is great. I have been contemplating getting the Anduril and sending it to a custom sword maker and having...

Re: Canon Swords Return to Albion

Yup just got the facebook update. Then went to Film Swords and there they were. The prices have gone up a bit, I remember the original price was $2500 then $2700 for the Atlantean. They are now $2975, considering the US dollar is worth about 1/2 what it was 10 years ago I guess thats not bad. ;)

Re: Holy c**p - UC were considering/making prototypes of these?!?!?
Actually, the price of any Master Swordsmith's blade so far is more than fair and realistic. $6.000 for a piece of art from one of world's leading bladesmiths (a piece of art that takes him nearly 100 hours to complete!) is an incredible deal. It's not that they'...

Re: Holy c**p - UC were considering/making prototypes of these?!?!?

I think this thread dovetails into what I put into my first post. The cost of the Masters collection is more then the cost of getting a high quality sword. I have payed 2k to 2.5k for extremely high quality swords. Since you are paying for whos doing them and collector appeal of WETA. There are a nu...
