Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Wow! That display is stunning! I like Noble version but this is on another level. If UC had actually gone forward with their version of the crown back in the day, I am not sure the quality would have been any better than what Noble made. The display would have been better IMO, but even looking at t...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Overall, it just seems to be a missed opportunity to make a more accurate version, but maybe they did not have access to the hi-res prop crown images. I still have hopes that UC will do their replica one day, with my original display stand idea using Gilmi's crown pillow. http://www.kitrae.net/fant...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

It's great to know that Denethor's sword has a chance to see the light of day. I would love to see your improved/finished version and I hope that the prop is not too rough to be improved or made look more finished and still remain authentic replica and acceptible to UC. With all the work Weta was t...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Denethor's sword is still on the UC list to develop at some point, but not the Gondorian sword. Very little interest in that one. The UC crew had interest in Denethor's sword until I showed them a closeup of the hilt. The prop pommel is very rough, not symmetrical, and looks unfinished. I don't thi...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I woke up this morning realising that still need those to be done...UC so far delivered what I wanted (and more) but...desire knows no bundary.... https://image.ibb.co/cr2qNF/IMG_2333.jpg https://middle-earthencyclopedia.weebly.com/uploads/3/8/2/9/3829140/3604483.png?285 This wall would be a-we-so-...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Received my Faramir's sword today. What a great piece and very happy to have it in my collection. Only a couple of nit pics, the fuller grind is a bit uneven as well as the false edge (you can feel it when you run your hands down the edge) but nothing I'd exchange for. Can't wait to get it hung up ...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I read "War Banners"...I have several from the og run back in early 00s and I keep on buying since...are there any chances of more being done? Absolutely love those...And I´ll be glad to buy the banner from the LE Anduril that will be released soon if put on sale... UC did not make those ...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I don't think there have been any sort of official announcements, but does anyone else here really want to see some UC replicas from RoP? Sure the show had flaws, but overall I enjoyed it, and I would really love to see a replica of Finrod's Dagger, Morgoth's Sword Hilt (as dumb as that key to open...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

It's not a big deal but when you combine slightly but noticeably different blade finish/color/reflection with different fullers and unique patina on crossguard and pommel you get a sword that stands out. Don't get me wrong, I love it! I was just curious to know way :) The whole process of making swo...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

That polish on the Isildur sword was something United's factory changed on their own. That was in the early days of the current owners of the company, so they were still learning. I think that was their first new LOTR sword. The factory had just figured out how to do a high polish on a fuller while...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Great news for Isildur's sword! Thank you for changing the blade finish... belive it or not but that always bothered me more than the rubber grip :) And speaking of blade finish, why does Bard's sword have that similarly strange (different than other swords) blade finish? It also has that gray color...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

The Faramir sword is not a rumor. I confirmed it here. It's in the early stages of development, so I would not expect that to be on the market until early next year. I'm still so happy about Guthwine being made... it was such a dream for years. Even today as I hold it in my hand I feel the same joy...

Re: The Rings Of Power

@Olorin and @EagleFriend - great idea merging the two threads! No apologies needed in any regard! Thanks for understanding. This tread could have been fantastic... I was somewhat excited for this show and it's a shame that there isn't at least (a bare minimum) a visual continuity with the movies. I...

Re: The Rings Of Power

So after all I could still be right about that sword with horse head on the pommel from the poster being Eorl's  (Having in mind that timeline compression) Joking aside... I enjoyed reading discussion on this tread. Strong arguments, educational information about the lore... I had high hopes ...

Re: The Rings Of Power

We had two threads on basically the same topic, the weapons and so forth from the new series. I merged them. This was my first time doing this under phpBB, so unfortunately I merged the senior thread into the junior thread instead of vice versa. Apologies to Jash for that, but at least you still ha...

Re: The Rings Of Power

I only guess that it may be Morgoth's sword because: A) I belive that they would like to copy LOTR prologue to make an analogy and connect the show with the movies; B) I think that they will show Sauron as Annatar in first few seasons so this black figure may be Morgoth from prologue or Sauron in la...

Re: The Rings Of Power

Regarding image number 1. I just read this on wiki ( I know...it's a poor source) "In battle, he wore black armour and wielded Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld. The great battering ram of Mordor was named for this weapon. He also wielded a black spear, and in early texts, a poison sword"...

Re: The Rings Of Power

Your guesses all seem reasonable except: A) Morgoth wielded a mace called Grond, not a sword. I also find a prologue that features him unlikely though possible. B) I'm guessing you didn't read my post above but that cannot be Eorl. Calenardhon was given to the Eotheod in 2510 of the Third Age, not ...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

The Rohan pieces are definitely what is most active at the moment. If the new stuff sells well, hopefully we can do the Theoden spear and the other two scabbards and complete that mini collection. I have already mentioned here a few times that Faramir's sword is going to be made. We have talked abo...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Excited to hear that Theodred's sword is coming in 2022. Also love the whole "Rohan revival". Eomer's spear looks great too. I hope that the new Amazon "LOTR" series will further strenghten the interest (and demand) in all LOTR related collectibles, especially weapons and give wa...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

You have said it better than I did :) Regrettably I don't have any of the aged swords in my collection. I had to be very conservative when deciding what to include in the collection. From where I'm from, these swords can cost up to 500€. Many middlemen plus transport plus customs... :crazy2: So I de...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Hi Kit, It's been mentioned by more than a few folks elsewhere that should UC hopefully decide to go ahead with Theodred's sword, that a neat way to differentiate it a bit more from Eowyn's sword would be to add some battle-damage, or barring that, just an additional patina of wear. The reason is t...

Re: Fable Blades

I guessed someone had already stumbled upon this since it is quite old but you really went beyond :-) It would have been awesome if you managed to realise your idea but as you said it would be (and still is) way too expensive to do it...pity :-( But overall nice twist to the original design of the s...

Fable Blades

Just wanted to share with you some alternative LOTR swords design. Maybe you saw it before but I didn't find any reference of Fable Blades on forum search...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Also, I would like to thank Kit and all you wanderful people here for making Guthwine a reality! I just hope we actually get them this century! They have been done for several months now. :-D After more than a decade of hopping and waiting, I really don't mind being patient a few more months :-)
