Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

The 2014 United Cutlery Catalogue has gone live on their website.

HERE

I wonder if the images featured are of actual pieces or still just artist renderings - they certainly look quite real. *just noticed that all of the pages say: Artistic renderings; actual production may vary slightly.*

Cheers

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

They are also listed on United Cutlery's website. Including Thranduil's Sword and Staff, Tauriel's Daggers and Bow & Arrow (which I will say is more accurate to the marketing imagery than Weta's), Mirkwood Double-Bladed Polearm, Azog's Mace and Sauron's Gauntlet (I wonder why it is listed amongs...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I just noticed UC commented on the picture of the Scabbard on their facebook page: "Fret not, ye of little faith. The scabbard will have wood in it just as the Weta original prop. If you look at any photo of the scabbard from the movie, it's not the entire scabbard that is wood. It is an inlay....

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

I have to say, I agree with Val completely. I was excited at first to see what the daggers look like but then I had a similar conclusion - this may only delay, if not prevent UC from making them. I hope this is not the case. I would not buy Weta's for the very same reason - that they are urethane. I...

Re: The Hobbit

Only half?! There seemed to be a lot of stuff in there!

The swords look very interesting! Especially with the cut-outs in the blade.
We also see some daggers weilded by the "scouts", some bows, the armour (particularly Thranduil's looks amazing!), Thranduil's sword... anything I missed?

http://geektyrant.com/storage/0998-post-images/hobbit-desolation-tauriel666-lilly2.png?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1364260918774 From what I can work out, I think that that is the hilt of a sword protruding from behind the shield towards Tauriel. It must be worn at the hip by the guard holding the s...

Re: The Hobbit

Being in Australia, we didn't get access to the Preview as the DVD/Bluray has nod been released here yet. All I have managed to see are various screencaps floating around the web.

Does it look the same as the swords carried by the Royal Guard that accompanies Thranduil to Erebor?

Re: The Hobbit

That makes me very happy to hear that Kit.
Thranduil's sword we have seen, but there is his staff as well. That and all of the guards' gear...

Re: LOTR Flags and Banners

That must be relatively new - I have regularly checked in on their site and only noticed that one in the last couple of months. Whether that means its from the Hobbit or not remains to be seen. That is the house symbol/emblem that is emblazoned on the plaque of the Fighting Knives of Legolas. Incide...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

My Radagast Staff arrived this morning, unfortunately not in perfect condition. There is a small piece of the branch that encompasses the stone that has clean broken out. To be honest it shouldn't be too hard to just glue back in and you would never know - unless you were going over it with a micros...

Re: Orcrist Revealed

Hmm... Not quite a groan... It would certainly be much, much better than no scabbard at all. And I have faith that it would to have pass your scrutiny and QC before going into production. It is certainly something I would have to see. Though I highly doubt I would not get it! Any chance of a Hadhafa...

Re: Orcrist Revealed

So does that mean you wouldn't be about to wear it slung over your back? It is promising to hear that you are still "working" on it. When I saw the detail and complexity of the scabbard in the Master Swordsmith pictures I was starting to fear that it would prove difficult for UC to reprodu...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Yes, I admit the shipping for the Gandalf the Grey Staff was very high but unfortunately that is what we have to put up with. It is exactly the same to ship it from New Zealand (Weta) and they are our neighbours! Its cheaper as a US citizen to buy it as it ships from the US warehouse. I have had thi...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Hi Nigel I'm in Perth Western Australia. I have bought most of my items from the US and had them shipped in with absolutely no customs issues. Most items I have bought through eBay but I have recently bought the Hobbit Collectibles through Smithblades. Derek there has been incredibly helpful. I have...

Re: The Hobbit

I went to see it for the first time today - it only came out in Australia yesterday. It definitely warrants many more viewings! I thought it was great, deviations from the book lore aside. That was the first thing I thought when I saw sting in the chest. I noticed a few other elven weapon details: -...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

New items up on the Weta Store including: Scarf of Gandalf the Grey with "added threads of 'mithril' (fine metallic thread) woven into the fabric to make it shine like moonlit silver." This has been on the Stansborough Website for some time now though there was no reference to the 'mithril'.

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I've been intrigued by a line from a recent post on theonering.net where they are showcasing the new United Cutlery replicas. In the first post, about Sting, there is ths line: "Over the next several days we will introduce the many items that UC has up on their website now, as well as items tha...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Thanks Kit. It looks fantastic! Is it a single piece? Having pre-ordered the Staff, Orcrist and Sting & Scabbard I'm super excited to get my hands on them! I cannot wait to see what else will be in Collection. Fingers crossed the Orcrist Scabbard gets the go ahead! It would be great to see Thran...
