Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
JM... one of my favorite characters was O'Brien, he gets a transfer and is a major character on DS9, lots of backstory and development to him. Star Trek was very thought provoking I agree with you... I think you will see a lot more of that when/if you ge...

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
Nicely said, Jm. I'm glad there are still some people out there that are not so enamoured with Abrams and his lofty pedestal that they can provide some honest, no-bs criticism.
To be perfectly honest, JJ's 2009 Trek got me into Star Trek in general. My...

Re: Star Trek Into Darkness
But once it hit its stride in the 3rd season, from then on it was every bit the equal of TOS.
If not the greater of the two. Look; if we had to pick one of the five shows that was "closest" to AbramsTrek, it would probably be TOS. Instead of th...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!
Another reason why I should stay away from forums.
No, don't do that! We like hearing the word from the horse's mouth, as it were. Also, though I'm not going to dig up the quote, Kit - did I miss something? There's more LotR on the way? New LotR? Re-...

Re: The Hobbit

You know, I was just thinking about that scene yesterday when I watched the film. I thought it was Glamdring, initially, but you guys are right, as usual - it does appear to be a Ranger sword.

Re: Orcrist Revealed

I'd completely forgotten about the Wood elves - guess I need to read the book again. I'm a fan of the elegant Numénorean blades from the Trilogy, so I'm hoping the men of Dale have some nice Strider-ish swords. Boy, you know - it's just awesome to have new LotR onscreen again; we get to do this all ...

Re: Lord of the Rings Triple Review (UC Shards, MC Glamdring, Weta One Ring)
Sorry I interrupted your three part review to answer your question.
Not a problem. I'd rather you answer than not. :) I'm in MN, so I'll probably do it a bit more often than once a month as the climate is either humid in the summer or snowy in the win...

The info on the inside is, in fact...

Re: Lord of the Rings Triple Review (UC Shards, MC Glamdring, Weta One Ring)

I picked up a nice One Ring replica from Weta. This is the new, Hobbit release, without the black-speech runes, which I preferred to the LotR version - the runes show on screen for like 2% of the Ring's entire screentime, so I wanted the "more" screen accurate piece - without the runes. ht...

http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee341/Jm419/LOTR%20Collection/DSC00777_zps0c819bed.jpg The weathering is very precisely done on this. Small rust spots have formed on the blade during its 3,000 year stay in Rivendell, and they're all over. The leather is even "dirty." All in all, it's v...

http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee341/Jm419/LOTR%20Collection/DSC00760_zps9ec35554.jpg Here's the proof. The swords recently discovered by Redford films are in fact part of the original run of 1,000. They apparently had a problem - UC went bankrupt halfway through the run - so roughly a third to...

Lord of the Rings Triple Review (UC Shards, MC Glamdring, Weta One Ring)

Hello all, I'm pleased to be a member of this community. I've spent some time lurking and really enjoying the reading - you guys got me back into the hobby and I spent way more than I should have on LotR stuff in the past few months. Heh... ah well. I'm glad to be here, and I'm really looking forwar...

Re: Orcrist Revealed

I was kinda hoping for the same thing, with the possibility of a re-release of the Shards, but I just picked up a set. Hey, I got a good price, and it's been a favorite of mine for a while. Is there much of a possibility that we'll see further weaponry in the next two films? I would think most of it...
