Here's my finished rune:

I might touch up the paint if I ever feel that it must be done- but right now I'm happy with it. It looks genuine in my eyes.

Now I just gotta drill!

Okay apparently I need new drill bits.... I just bent one trying to drill through the staff. Darn. I guess this is a good excuse to buy new tools.

Now that I am making progress on my Gandalf staff.... I now really want to go ahead and drill the hole.

I have never drilled through aluminum (it's aluminum... Right?) before. Does this require a special kind of drill bit?

I have started etching in the rune to my Gandalf Staff. At first I was going to carefully plan it out by making a tracing of the rune onto the staff- but then I just decided to freeball it. It's turning out pretty decent. I'm calling it a night and will do a few touch ups and paint later. http://i7....

Thank you- it's hard to know without having the staff in hand.

I do already have some Testors in flat brown, light brown, and wood. I can probably cook something close enough up!

I'm not too worried about carving the rune- I've done similar projects before.

Great advice all the same! I was probably going to use the regular angled blade- but the straight edge seems like a much better way!

My Gandalf staff should be arriving on Monday. I will probably have to add the rune. The hole for the strap doesn't feel necessary for me- but maybe one day it will happen.

It was very fortunate of Gandalf that he didn't bring and thus lose Glamdring at Orthanc.

He must have decided that this was a good trip to bring his back up sword.

Oh I am not saying that I am expecting UC to make Guthwine- just stating that UC probably knows it's a much requested sword- but UC has to weigh their chances and they probably think it's still too much of a risk.

I would imagine that out of the unreleased LOTR swords, Guthwine is the most requested. I see it all over the place on the UC Facebook page.

I have the Noble Elven Brooch and like it. At Wizard World I got to hold a Weta Elven Brooch- and couldn't notice much of a difference.

And actually- the prices are almost the same when you consider that with the Weta brooch you also get the Jens Hansen silver chain and a Stansborough wool pouch.

I just took a 600 grit sandpaper to the logo and it worked great! If I am unable to return it for a corrected one, then I will be removing the logo altogether. Kit says that it can be removed using a 400-600 grit sandpaper.

It's a very dark brown in person. Depending on the lighting it can be brown or black.

Let's see my record so far this year... Rivendell Helm had pen scribble marks all over the inside liner. Sauron Mace has to be replaced and sent back twice because they kept showing up cracked (thanks again Rev for all your hard work in getting me a good one!) Boromir sword with the stamp on the wro...

I have two UC Strider swords and scabbards. One in pristine condition and the other was distressed by Jamanticus. I wear the distressed one to Renaissance faires and other such events. I always get compliments off of it!

Striders sword all the way. I love the Ranger style and the Strider sword just has the perfect look for a Ranger!

Thanks for that information! My head measures 24 1/4", which is about a 7 3/4 or 62cm. I've been debating whether or not to get this for awhile. The Isildur helm doesn't strike me as a must have like other items do. However if I change my mind in the future I might not be able to get it anymore...

A giant melon would be a good description for the boulder that sits upon my shoulders!

The Gondorian Helm just fits me. I can get Gimli's helm on but its too tight to wear for more than a minute or so.
