Re: Your Other Collections

I only have a couple of other collections than have been steadily growing over the course of my life. One is a foreign money collection. It's nothing special really, just coins and notes collected and kept from all the different countries I have been to in my fairly short life, which is quite a few...

Re: where are all the members ?

I'm starting to envy those of you in cooler climate zones. It's starting to get warm here now, between 75 and 80 fahrenheit at the moment, and it's only going to get worse (hotter), and stay that way until September or so. There is such a thing as too hot. Come to Georgia between May and September ...

Re: A Song of Fire and Ice

Well, I've read the other 700 pages, finishing last night. It was a good book. I enjoyed the layout of the chapters. Each was named after a character, and that chapter focused on what that particular character was up to. A nice way of changing from place to place I thought. I hope Robb becomes one ...

Re: THE Movie Thread

Hehehe :D I believe when this was mentioned back in the day, Olorin, you came up with 'Indiana Jones and the Retirement Home of Doom'. I always like that one personally :lol_blue: It would be nice to see Sean Connery reprise his role as Indy's dad. He's looked the same for like as long as I can rem...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

I personally don't think it's worth it. I've just had a look at the site, and $250 for that sword is a lot I think. It may be limited to 3000 pieces, but it's a very basic looking cutlass. I suppose that's to be e xp ected of Jack Sparrow though; he probably stole it :lol_blue: And I hope that prod...

Re: A Song of Fire and Ice

After finishing and re-reading The Sword of Truth series, I figured it was about time to move on to another epic fantasy series, since it's the only genre I really ever read. It seems everyone and their uncle has read these books on most fantasy-based forums, so I figured they couldn't all be wrong...

Re: Narnia LWW DVD out today!

I e xp ect you get tired of hearing this, Valkrist, but you were right! I was pleasantly surprised by Narnia :) It's a very good film. The main reason I was skeptical about seeing this, above my other reasons for disliking the book, is that fantasy, for me at least, makes the reader responsible for...

Re: Narnia LWW DVD out today!

No, of course not, Olorin :) Glad I could paint the picture a bit clearer for you. Well, I was going to watch it last night, but as my dad is away on business in Virginia this week, I decided to take my mom to the movies to see V for Vendetta. Now that is a quality film! I was most impressed. And a...

Re: Narnia LWW DVD out today!

Lol, Valkrist, maybe that's it :goofy_pur Well Olorin, it wasn't me personally who bought the DVD. It was my parents. And hate is probably a strong word if I've ever used it. I dislike the book because I don't like the way it's written, or the length. There's just no depth to it, no character devel...

Re: Narnia LWW DVD out today!

Hasn't Prince Caspian been announced? I thought it had been. You'd have thought that close to $300 million at the US box office alone would have been sufficient enough to warrant a sequel. The "wait and see" approach is interesting, if not cast hindering, though I suppose you can't just e...

Re: Extended Extended Edition?

"Thinking of doing a box set..." That's pretty vague. Box sets already exist...Are we talking hi-def?...or extra extended?...or neither? It'll be interesting to see whether this is an extended extended set of DVDs, or just DVDs we already have (though hi-def), and perhaps with more docume...

Re: Any news on the War Helm of the Witchking?

Meh, the hood is tolerable enough. Or rather, it's not so glaring that I'd risk attempting a DIY improvement. Besides not knowing where to start, if I messed it up, I'd be pissed off, to say the least. I can deal with it how it is I think. Afterall, the actual mask/helm call it what you will, doesn...

Re: Pure Middle-Earth discussion.

I have a question about the whole Quest for the Silmaril. Thingol was disapproving of Beren and Luthien’s love, correct? And so demanded a Silmaril in exchange for his daughter’s hand, thinking it a good way to get rid of Beren. So, Beren manages to obtain a Silmaril from the Iron Crown, but Carcha...

Re: Disney announces 'Prince Caspian'

Well, children's book or no, I wasn't very impressed. HP and the Hobbit are children's books, and those are actually worth reading. But anyway... The problem I see with more Narnia films after Prince Caspian , is that they're going to have to focus on different characters. Like Valkrist said, the b...

Re: Disney announces 'Prince Caspian'

Not surprising really, since LWW did so well. I still haven't seen that yet, but I'm hoping it's one of those rare occasions when the film is actually better than the book. The Chronicles of Narnia are terrible books in my opinion.

Re: My MC Sting display

Indyprops has answered very quickly (and I was a bit nervous to read the answer...:goofy_pur ). Here it is : "Yes, these pages are all included in my replica. As for pictures, some of these are shown on my site; rest assured that those which are not are just as accurately replicated. Although ...

Re: My MC Sting display

Interesting. I'll be surprised if pages seen in the film are not in this book, but it's certainly a good idea to make sure. If you would be so kind as to report back with your findings, I will be most appreciative. I shall be most interested in reading Indy props' response to your inquiries.

Re: Any news on the War Helm of the Witchking?

Thanks, and thanks for editing my post. I wasn't thinking, and didn't hit return after each image... The hood, on mine (I can't speak for all of them, of course), hangs unevenly. I've just literally had a look to see if it was caught on something, but it isn't. It seems like they didn't cut the mat...

Re: Any news on the War Helm of the Witchking?

You're welcome ST! Right, well I've got some better pics here: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/JasonGSux/STA600011.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/JasonGSux/STA60002.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/JasonGSux/STA600051.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d44/JasonGSux/STA...

Re: Any news on the War Helm of the Witchking?

I guess it's more like 7pm.... Well, Valkrist, I trust you'll believe me when I say it's exactly as you suspected. The War Helm of the Witchking comes with a regular helm stand, and a skullcap has been stuck to the inside of the spiked halo. If you tap the top of it, it's very solid indeed, and the...

Re: Any news on the War Helm of the Witchking?

One last thing I am curious about. It was mentioned that this thing is padded like one of the helms. Do you mean the padding simply goes *around* the circular portion of the mask, or is there actually a domed top to it under the hood? A photo of the stand without the mask on, as well as the interio...

Re: MC Anduril in 2006?

I agree about the precious metals part. Unneccessary for the most part, as it isn't keeping with the tradition this line was supposed to establish: being more accurate to the film props than any other replica. Plating the hilts in silver won't have raised the cost much I don't think, so I guess the...

Re: MC Anduril in 2006?

I love it when people say things like that, as if just saying so makes it true, and yet don't offer a shred of evidence to prove it...Please, give us something more than your word when you make such a bold statement, especially considering what it is you're talking about. Anduril may have avoided g...

Re: MC Anduril in 2006?

'Tis a shame, as I would've liked very much to add a Museum Collection Anduril to my collection. People say 2 is company, 3 is a crowd, but I don't think so in this instance. It would've been better to have Sting, Glamdring, and Anduril as MCs, but sadly that is about as likely as something that's ...

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

i thought the sequel was a lot deeper than the first. as well as the "suprise ending" was WAYYYY more suprising to me, and thats big because the ending in the first movie was GREAT. Interesting. I'd been hearing that the twist at the end of this was better than in the first, and that's sa...

Re: Seen any good movies lately?

Wow x12, eh? Must be pretty damn good! I should really go pick this up myself, but I need someone to watch it with... Would you say it's better than the first? I watched Cellular last night. Pretty old film by now I guess, but it was good I thought. As is the norm, an English guy (Jason S...

Re: The Wheel of Time

As would I. It is interesting to see other people's interpretations. Thorin, is that Martin book you're reading part of the A Song of Ice and Fire series? And if so, what's it like? That is another series that I'll be reading sometime in the future...probably after Wheel of Time, and I'm interested...

Re: The Wheel of Time

I've not read these books yet, but I've been looking into them, and this will no doubt be the next epic-sized fantasy series I read, once I've finished the Dark Tower series. Having read the 9 Sword of Truth books, I have quite the passion for these large fantasy series, and The Wheel of Time is on...
