Re: Spiderman 3

I saw it the other night and really enjoyed it. These are the best comic book movies in my opinion, and this one certainly wasn't a disappointment. I'll have to see it again to determine which of the three I like the best, as they all have their strong points. The action is as spectacular as ever, ...

Re: The Hobbit

Hmmm, that certainly appears genuine, so I hope it is. It's nice to see. I'm sure there's a lot of directors out there who would literally jump for the opportunity to get into bed with New Line on this, so it's good to see Raimi at least has standards of decency. I think one thing we can be fairly ...

Re: which helm to get?

Ultimately, it's down to which one you prefer the look of. I only own one of those two (Wiki mask), and am very happy with it. It's an attractive piece, in an intimidating sort of way :P So in other words, you really can't go wrong with that. On the other hand, Elendil's helm has been out now for o...

Re: Ps3

If anyone's interested, I recently bought a new television to go with my PS3. In an ideal world, it would display 1080p, but alas, the $2,500 minimum starting price for a flat panel (one that's worth getting anyway) is a bit out of my price range at the moment, so I had to settle for 720p/1080i. Af...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Thanks Grima. She was back in England. She was just feeling the effects of old age unfortunately, and had been in hospital for about a week before. Thankfully though, she didn't suffer, and passed in her sleep. That's the best way to go I think, if there is such a thing...

Re: Ps3

It does seem a good deal, but it sucks for people like yourself who play it on PC, and then have to pay extra for e xp ansions and the like, whereas console gamers get it straight out of the box, even if it is further down the line and in moderate conjunction with a new e xp ansion. I guess we'll s...

Re: Ps3

Thanks Valkrist. I'll certainly look into getting the first game for PC then, as I don't believe it did come out on PS2. I may as well know the story so far before I start playing the sequel. I've since seen some game footage of Half-Life 2 on a programme called Cinematech, and it looks very good. ...

Re: Ps3

I can't say I've played a game before that I've found truly harrowing, but everyone I know who has played F.E.A.R. says a similar thing to you, so this should be a very interesting e xp erience :thumbs_up Valkrist, you mentioned Valve earlier on, and I believe you have spoken of the Half-Life serie...

Re: Ps3

Interesting points as usual, Valkrist. It worries me that Sony has no solution for the downscaling problem, as I did not know this. One would have thought that ensuring that the correct resolution is being used would be a standard and important thing in a high definition console, so this is a big p...

Re: Ps3

I got one exactly 2 weeks after it was released. I had initially planned on camping out for it, but that would've been lunacy I figured, so I opted not to. I strolled into Wal-mart a fortnight later and they had one in stock (apparently someone had forgotten to put it out the day before), so I boug...

Re: New Hobbit info!

Interesting. "Advanced talks" sounds promising enough. It's nice that something seems to be coming of this finally, even if it's still a ways down the road. I don't think two films are necessary though." Footnotes and source material" sounds suspisciously like "PJ making sh...

Re: Eragon

I downloaded this trailer from ign the other day, and was surprised at how good the film looks. I bought and read the two books in this series a while back, and was less than impressed. If you're not thinking of a cross between Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings when you read Eragon, then there's ...

Re: Question: Strider's scabbard vs. Anduril Scabbard

I have both. I don't really prefer one over the other; both are great. If I were you, I'd go for the Ranger Sword scabbard. It's been out for much longer, and is likely to be much scarcer. With Anduril's popularity, it would seem like a stupid move for United to make to discontinue it's scabbard.

Re: Updates...

I believe this is the post you're looking for, GW. I found it in this thread. The long time factory UC used in Taiwan is no more, that is the reason the EWS out of production. We have contratced our main China factory to make it, but it could take six months or more to get the tooling moved and set...

Re: Swords from Eragon the Movie

No, Narnia wasn't all that hot, and yes, they both worked on it in some fashion or another. But even so, between them, these two companies are also responsible for the effects in films like Star Wars Episode III, War of the Worlds, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, and the two Pirates of th...

Re: Swords from Eragon the Movie

Well if you're interested in the film, Thorin, you may as well go ahead and read the books first, since you've still got time. Be warned though, the first is really not that great. Trailer in 6 days, eh? I'll look forward to it. I'm interested in seeing this Edward Speelers. I can't say he's how I ...

Re: Swords from Eragon the Movie

Yeah that's what I figured. Otherwise they've dressed Malkovich up for nothing :P I hope it's a flashback as Brom recites his knowledge of past events. A prologue scene like PJ's would reek too much of the Lord of the Rings, and that's the last you want at the beginning of a film, especially this o...

Re: Greetings

Welcome to the forum :) Seems like forever since anyone started one of these threads!

Hope you enjoy your time here, and find the forum informative.

Re: Narnia

Yeah, a measly ten minutes of additional footage hardly seems worth the double-dip, especially not for the gift set price. At least with the LotR gift sets, you were getting a considerably longer version of the film, as well as something from WETA. Thanks, but no thanks, Disney.

Re: Pirates 2 - Dead Man's Chest

I went to see it last night (I've been busy)...I thought it was great. Plenty of good, fun action, with elements tying this to the first film, which just made you smile. Valkrist pretty much summed it up. Sparrow, while now nothing new, is still great to watch, since Depp is so brilliant at it. The...

Re: King Kong Extended Edition

I'm not sure whether I'll be able to stomach an extended Kong DVD. For some reason, it's 3 hours of footage just seems really, almost painfully, long, and yet I'll happily watch the extended RotK DVD, which is a hour longer still. Perhaps you're right that a little more character development will s...

Re: glamdring

I agree with that, toro :) It's certainly one of my most prized possessions, and I'm glad I bought it.
Seems a few here have had problems with theirs though, the display case in particular.
No such problems here though, so I highly recommend it :thumbs_up

Re: X-Men 3 - Movie Trailer!

BTW, who was in the kid in the second movie that was switching channels by blinking his eyes? This was a question in the X-Men 2 Q&A section on moviemistakes.com Who is the kid in the mansion changing the channels by blinking? I recognized most of the "background" mutants (Siren, Jubi...
