Re: Holy c**p - UC were considering/making prototypes of these?!?!?

I wish that UC had released one more grouping of swords. Since they usually offered 4 at a time, I would like to have seen Guthwine, Merry's Weathertop sword, Pippin's Weathertop sword (except for those 2 hobbits, UC produced a weapon for every member of the Fellowship) and finally, the Sword Of Sau...

Re: The Hobbit
I'm sure Jackson is constantly losing sleep over The Hobbit- he wouldn't be the filmmaker he is if he didn't. It's because of his and the crew's love for the source material and his desire not to disappoint the crazies like us that LotR was the greatest fant...

Re: The Hobbit

Unless we embark into a wonky Hollywood "parallel universe" I don't see how a scene with Frodo reading from the Red Book can possibly occur at any other time than following the events of LOTR (So they might want to show him with the missing finger to make that clear). FOTR shows Bilbo begi...

Re: Holy c**p - UC were considering/making prototypes of these?!?!?

I for one wasn't surprised to hear this. Hazarding a guess, I would say that the number of us who are still dedicated to this hobby (LOTR swords at least) has dropped. Factor in the economy and it's not exactly a healthy environment at the present time. Heck, there are a lot of these pieces on eBay,...

Re: The Hobbit

One thing that Sir Ian may be considering is whether or not he would truly be up to an extended shoot that includes swordplay, etc. The sight of him in a video posted on one of the forums really caught me by surprise. He appears much older now than I remember him looking. I hope and pray that he IS ...

Re: Indiana Jones 5

For me, Indy 4 was fine as far as a night's entertainment at the theater. At Ford's age, I really wasn't e xp ecting another Indy 1!

At least they didn't make Ford do some stupid dance (Spiderman 3)!

Re: UC LOTR products 2010

I was confused for while about the W'Top swords that were given to M & P. The pommel of one sword resembles the 7 layers of Gondor, as seen on the scabbards of the Gondorians; I automatically associated that with Pippin. The pommel of the other sword is more bulbous; I thought that it more close...

Re: The Hobbit

Del Toro has other commitments that are coming up and the constant delays of The Hobbit have turned what started out as a 3 year commitment into a potential 6 year commitment. If he had quit on all of the other things to direct the 2 films, he could have run into some legal issues as well. His leavi...

Re: The Hobbit

Not surprised at all. I made a comment to a friend just a few days ago that surely Del Toro had projects that he had already commited to, commencing after "The Hobbit". I support him in his decision; it's great to see someone in the world of film who has the same integrity as PJ!

Re: UC LOTR products 2010

While looking for pics of Theodred's sword tonight I came across a video on YouTube that a guy made to show the many LOTR swords made by UC. He posted it approx. 10-12 months ago. It had all of the swords that collectors are familiar with plus there were amazing pics of (1) Arwen's dagger, (2)Theodr...

Re: The Hobbit
They do this every year, and yes, considering the agonizing and repetitive Hobbit delays, it's anything but funny. Also, Mark Ferguson played Gil-galad so that blows the joke right there.
So THAT's where I heard that name before! I knew it was familiar...

Re: The Hobbit

If you go to theOneRing site, you'll notice that the first word in the list of tags is "fool". Personally, I didn't really react to it as humorous, just annoying.

Re: Rumour concerning swords from 'The Hobbit'

Hmmmm, have there been any lawsuits against the parties involved with these products? If not, it's most likely a group of corporate attorneys going to the Nth degree to avoid any chance of lawsuits (forget whether the items will even sell, just don't do anything that might give anybody a chance to c...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword
Oh goodness, even though you're advocating weathering for them, now I have a mental picture of all the Ringwraiths' swords in pristine condition! What have you done, MorgulMike?! :crazy2:
:D Pristine? Perish the thought!!! The appearence of those sw...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

Personally, the only ME blades that I'd want aged and weathered as per the movies would be the Mordor blades - the WK and Ringwraith swords. Rust those babies up and knock a few chunks out of the blade edges - superb! :thumbs_up

Re: Weta Aragorn sword
I'd recommend some serious security, like a metal display case with 10 mm Lexan cover bolted to the wall. Want this sword? You need to tear down the wall to get it.
I was wondering about exactly that! There was this image going through my mind of bein...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

I've never read any figures regarding the number of non-LE Anduril swords sold to-date but I do know this: The LE has a display that heightens the look and therefore the appeal of the piece. Placed beside the non-LE, there is no comparison as to which is the superior piece (imo of course) to display...

Re: The Hobbit

I'm sure that they'll keep the scripts very close to the chest and, as you mentioned previously, the scripts will evolve as they are filming. I'm really just throwing around possible scenarios. I know that whatever they do, it will be another masterpiece!

Re: The Hobbit

There's something that I was wondering about and haven't seen mentioned anywhere so far. Since this is being done in 2 films, is it possible that PJ, Fran, Philippa and DT have written in Gandalf attending the White Council (the part of the tale where Gandy leaves them at the entrance to Mirkwood fo...

Re: Weta Aragorn sword

Where in the hell is that winning lottery ticket when I need one??!! :'( Curunir: your answer has brought a question to mind. If a person, at some point in the future, contacted Weta and said, "I would like a set of the swords made already and I'm willing to pay the full amount up front", ...

Re: The Hobbit

That will make for an incredible theater e xp erience but, when it's time for the DVD to be released for home use, will we have to wear those ultra-cheapo blue/red glasses that make the entire e xp erience a dud? They did that with "The Polar E xp ress" (which was available in both 3-D and...

Re: The Hobbit

I just had an image flash across my mind of the bears in the toilet paper commercials that are shown so often here in the U.S. :D As for Treebeard and the ents, they aren't beings that one would encounter in the real world. Therefore, they are outside of the world that we deal with. One is raised be...

Re: The Hobbit

I'm not sure if this has been discussed somewhere in the 124 pages of this thread but I'm curious as to how all of you feel that "Beorn" will be handled. Do you think he will remain as written in the book, remain but be altered or left out a'la "Tom Bombadil"? In the book, the dw...

Re: The Hobbit

Hi Val! In the second chapter ("Roast Mutton"), Bilbo awakens the next morning to find the dwarves gone and the dining room in a mess. He's glad that they've gone, though surprised to be a bit disappointed that they have left him. He proceeds to clean up the mess then settles down to his b...

Re: The Hobbit

The thing that strikes me is that work is going into re-building Hobbiton and, compared to LOTR, it most likely will be used for only a brief period of the movie. Gandalf arrives, he and Bilbo speak, the dwarves arrive, they discuss what they'll be doing (on a studio set), Bilbo meets up with them a...
