Re: sauron's mace

Greg Bates is no longer with UC, and I have been put in charge of other brands for UC, not just LOTR, so I don't have any time to surf the boards. Sauron's mace is on our "to be made" list, and all of the design and CAD work was completed long ago, but the powers that be have put in on hol...

Re: Witchking mask/helm

Looks like this is now a go project. New Line Cinema has approved it. It should be close to the same limited edition number and price as the Sauron helm replica we made last year. The prototype we made looks great, a dead on replica of the film prop. Instead of just doing the mask we have added the ...

Re: Sauron Gauntlet has arrived!

The only rod that goes in a finger is the long one for the index. There is a smaller one the the wrist srap wraps around and the thumb rod actually goes outsie the thumb to push the thumb out to match the pose on the box, but it is optional. They should have been an instruction sheet showing all of ...

Re: New Member and a problem

I'm not 100% sure that this is what you guys are talking about, but it sounds like the clear sealant on the metal is what is flaking off. The plating process used to make the antique metal finish, whether, it be brass, gold or silver colored (nickel) must be coated with a clear coat to prevent it fr...

Re: The Soul Reaver From LOK

It is not set in stone yet, but it looks like there is a good chance we will be making the Soul Reaver. All the i's need to be dotted and the t's crossed with Eidos, but chances are good. I am working on what scale to make it and what improvements we can make to add some detail to the handle. Just s...

Re: Another Aeglos petition!

I don't know if it will ever get made. If it does it will be down the road a bit. There are many other products already scheduled ahead of it. As with any of the LOTR weapons, we WANT to make them all. It just depends on how sales keep going, but we know there is a demand for it. We did get the prop...

Re: Crown of King Elessar

OK, I take the blame for getting off topic. No, we did not need a separate license for the pillow. It is all part of the product display. I never understood the deal with the scabbard rigging. As far as the pillow, we are tying to add something extra like this to a few upcoming products. Example - O...

Re: Crown of King Elessar

Boromir, I know what the pillow looks like because I have photos of it. We were never sent the actual prop. Our embroidery is slightly different and the size is smaller than what Gimli holds. FYI, New Line does not tell us what Noble is doing and vice versa. We have completely separate licenses. Had...

Re: And the Numenorean helmet?

We really want to make this helm. We just received the prop from Weta a few weeks back. Probably the last LOTR prop we will ever get from Weta since they have moved on to other things. It all depends on how the sales of the helms we have out now pwrform. It would be nice to have the whole set of Gon...

Re: Crown of King Elessar

The pillow actually came from the movie. If you look closely at the crowning scene in ROTK you will see Gimli is holding the crown on it. I was hoping there would be a closeup of Gimli in the long version, but no such luck. We will use a movie still of Gimli holding it in our marketing materials whe...

Re: Elven Warrior Sword

As I understand it, the real and stunt swords did have a Urethane shock absorber. The problem with the Elf sword is that the entire handle was made of Urethane. They never made a real handle. That is part of the difficulty in making the handle as it appears in the film. It is very dificult to make o...

Re: glamdring plaque

This was my concept art for the original plaque design. I wanted all of the plaque designs to be simple and not to interfere with the sword designs. New Line did not like it so I redesigned it to have more of a presence and incorporate an icon from the movie, form Gandalf's belt I believe. I did the...

Re: Elven Warrior Sword

The tang runs about 3/4 the length of the handle, but it won't matter because it will be completely non functional. This one is for display only, simply because of the handle construction required to make it look like what you saw in the film. That is, IF it ever gets made.

Re: Sharp swords?

A double edged sword is illegal in many places, so they are false edged. Single edged are not, so they are sharp. New Line wanted everything false, but we talked them into letting us have sharp edges on the singles.

Re: Product Numbers

Those are mostly internal codes like AS=Antique Silver, AB=Antique Bras, NB=Not Boxed, LT=Limited Edition, et cetera.

Re: My first UC knife!!

That is not the display stand that comes with the Sorcerer either. I am a little familiar with it because I designed it and the knife. You may have a couterfiet.

Re: Underworld

We are waiting to see how the sequel develops. We all like the film here and would like to do a few items if there is enough interest. Did anyone notice that the toy of Voctor had two Gil Hibben Dragon Lord knives in each hand but in the film they are just straight daggers?

Re: Riddick's Knives

I really loved those knives too. I tried to get the folks here at UC to get the license for Riddick but with no success. UC is making a similar blade for their Black Ronin series. Should be out in a few months. There were many other knives in that film that were my designs. Apparently they just boug...

Re: Metal Helms Edition Size

The Elf helm is staying at 5000 pieces because it will cost less than the metal helms and should sell more. There is a limited market for the metal helms, and now that the movie frenzy is over we are producing exactly the number we think the market will absorb. The other reason is they are basically...

Re: Accuracy of Elven War Helm

Well, I don't know if we hit the mark every time, the the Elf helm is a dead on accurate to the prop as we could make it, including matching Weta's colors on the movie prop, which was fiberglass. Ours is a little larger to fit an average size head, but it is scale. Most of the Weta helms were on the...

Re: SciFi's Dune Crysknife

I am a huge Dune book fan and I like the knives from both the David Lynch film and the sci-fi mini series. I am going to check on getting the license for these, as I would like to see them made too.

Re: Updated UC1366 (Strider Scabbard)

Originally New Line would not let us make the hanging straps because they considered that a separate license (I'm not joking) so we could not do them. Now that is over so we are making straps for all of the new scabbard items. As far as I know there are no plans to offer the belts separately for peo...

Re: New Argonaut Sword (UC1416)

The new Argo, and the old one, were made by UC for factory X. We made several products for them before they went under. The Factory X name was purchased by Pallisades, if I am not mistaken, so any new items are from them. Any of the products we manufactured for the original FX are now distributed by...

Re: Andúril rune error?

I was reviewing ALL of the details for the first three swords in the Museum Collection to make sure any inaccuracies from the standard UC versions are corrected. I caught this when I double checked the runes against the actual Tolkien runes. I also found the the runes on Glamdrings hilt are actually...
