Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Still torn, and these new pictures aren't helping either. The new helm looks amazing, my only nitpick is the horse hair looking a bit too wispy and thin. Having a hard time figuring out what to do as I can't justify owning two of the same helm, regardless of materials used. One would just be sittin...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

oh this looks INCREDIBLE!!! Can't wait to get one. On a side note, is there any way at all to get the old UC stands as spares? I'm personally not that keen on the sculpted bases (I know many are, but for me I prefer the classic stands) - I know its a long shot, but thought I'd ask anyway. I definit...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

N2, I'd be happy to do that for you. I'll unbox GoCart before the weekend is out. Stay tuned. :thumbs_up Excellent! I appreciate it. Take your time and you can email the pics whenever. Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

The UC rep who frequents the Lord of the Rings Collectors Facebook group just posted a couple "sneak peek" images of the Horn of Gondor. The pics are of the display plaque and part of the actual horn (the clay model phase). Looking good! https://www.dropbox.com/s/r06ty9upbxsskmq/104546137...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Buckeye, if you get a chance can you take some photos for me of the chest that goes in the back of the cart? Side, top, front profiles and a few measurement (HxWxD)? I'd love to try and build a 1/2 scale replica. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50071949258_5305f7d10e_o.jpg N2, I'd be happy to d...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Are you having a custom cabinet built for GoCart just as you did for Treebeard? No, I don't have the space for that. Being a townhouse dweller limits my ability to display things, and I'm truly running out of space for both my collectibles and their space-eating boxes. Even though it's not optimal,...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Much to my surprise (I never received a shipping notice or tracking number) Gandalf and Frodo on Cart #168 was delivered to my office yesterday. I'm working from home because of COVID-19, so I had to go in to retrieve the boxes this morning. It was a real workout getting the boxes down a flight of s...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I'll add to that. I saw round two of United's paint prototype for the Eomer helm. It took a while of explaining how to do it, but they have finally nailed the polished metal and brass look. It looks like the real deal, not paint. What I saw today looks as good as my prop. I just hope they can do it...

I'm guessing that they'll do their own videos to post and share on the web and social media.

Re: Shire Post Coins

Just ordered two sets of the Scouring Coins and one mithril Rivendell Moon coin. Thanks for posting that, Buckeye, I totally would have missed it otherwise. :thumbs_up I'm always happy to share the good word about Shire Post Mint coins. I think they're wonderful. On a related note, Helen Maringer j...

Picking up a set for sure. More a fan of this format too so there's no exclusive coins to miss out due to Kickstarter amounts.
I just saw that they're doing a great sale with 30% off (which will then drop to 25% off). Use the promo code HOLIDAY19.

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

I'm really tempted by the Elrond statue. The likeness is excellent, but he ltakes a surprising amount of horizontal display space. The only space I have available is inside a Detolf, and he won't fit. Sadly, that makes him a reluctant pass for me. I do plan to pick up some Bilbo buttons, though. :th...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

So, did anyone here PO Gandalf and Frodo on Cart? After some initial hesitation, I caved and placed my order. My WD definitely helped. I truly think I will love this piece, and I have already selected its display location. It will be higher up than I would prefer, but considering that I'm truly runn...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

I finally unboxed my Ringwraith at the Ford statue today. Yes, I know I don't collect evil character stuff, and this is only the second time I've broken that rule. MoS was the other exception . . . it seems I have a weakness for rider pieces. It's huge, very heavy, and quite imposing. I'm happy to s...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Not much else new in the works, except a possible poly Eomer helm and steel Eomer spear head from ROTK. More Rohirrim items . . . yay! :horseback I'm all in on the spearhead (maybe more than one). My Thranduil-made Eomer helm is one of the jewels in my collection, so I will likely pass on the UC ve...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Pity UC will never consider it as I don't think there would be much demand beyond us nutjob completists. Honestly, I think you would be surprised on the demand. You have long term and new collectors as well as dagger collectors as well. They should do another one of their polls online to se...

Valkrist wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:26 am Alrighty then! If and when you're done including Kit's corrections, could you send us the updated files, please? I'll take the one for Balin's Mace as well, but not Dwalin's Axes as I never bought those.
Same here. I'd love to get the updated Deathless and new Balin's Mace COAs. Thank you!

JJByers wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2019 11:47 pm I imagine making a wooden staff of that length and thickness would easily go wrong on a lathe. Resulting in constant breakages. Probably just easier and more effective doing 2 shorter pieces.
Agreed, and doing it that way also means cheaper shipping.

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Oh brother... so the supposedly "limited edition" Sauron helm is getting its * third * release now?!? So nice to see UC continuing to show integrity. :rolleye: Wasn't the Mace limited also? Mine is packed at the moment so I can't check. Yes, both were limited editions of 1,500. I could be...
