Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I think the biggest "sign of the times" is Peter Jackson's shift to less real world materials and drifting closer to high fantasy with The Hobbit trilogy. But that's a discussion that's already been had (again, where's that beating a dead horse smiley?). Shame about the factory that's cast...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Wow. :O I know it just went into public eye in October but I would think that by now they would have more of the logistics figured out. I read through some of the recent posts on the Weta forum and it looks like they're facing some production hurdles. I agree, it's really impressive but I did not im...

Re: New to Polystone

Glad you found a Saruman, Buckeye! Like Deimos said, I have yet to acquire the elusive "$75" Saruman that I'm always looking for. I'd probably pay a whopping 100 for it if I could manage to find one. I'm also be interested in a Dol Goldur Saruman, although I think it would be very ...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Fair point; that, along with the fact that both the Gundabad warriors and Dol Goldur/Moria orcs look a lot like Uruk-Hai in both stature and equipment. I sort of get why they chose that aesthetic, since it makes them scarier and more of a real foe for our heroes to get trampled by. I still wish that...

Re: The Hobbit

Well, I finally got around to watching the EE Trilogy. WOW, what a difference it makes. AUJ was nice with the addition of more Shire scenes, you get a little more character development throughout and some nice expanded scenery. DOS and BoFA were completely different films, though. I can't believe ho...

Re: New Movies

I finally got around to watching Spectre and was very drawn to it. It took a lot of thinking to remember back to all the other films when they started referencing them. I haven't seen Quantum of Solace since it was in theaters! I thought it was excellent though, and I really don't want to see Craig ...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Man, that's news to me on the Dain front, Kit. Very exciting! I really want that statue but it's just so expensive. The color looks great though, and if it's as good as the pictures, it would be an easier sell to me. Kind of a bummer that The Hobbit products aren't selling as well as the LotR line. ...

Re: New Movies

I still have to get out to see Deadpool and Hateful Eight. I haven't been to the theater since Christmas break, I don't think. I missed the ball on Spectre and ended up buying it at the store because I really want to see it and didn't want to forget.

Re: The Hobbit

I'm glad to hear that the EE delivered, as I'm about to order the whole trilogy on amazon! I also finally have a TV at college now, so next weekend may be a binge on Middle Earth kinda couple of days.

Re: Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to all and Happy Boxing Day to our friends from Her Majesty's Commonwealth. I had a wonderful holiday week with some much needed rest and peace, and still have two more family gatherings today and tomorrow to celebrate. This is undoubtedly my favorite time of the year. :inlo...

Re: The Hobbit

Aha, that makes sense. So 1-6 are the LotR Appendices and 7-12 are the Hobbit appendices. Thanks Kit! I'm trying to figure out which of the massive number of editions of the Hobbit trilogy I want. :O

Re: The Hobbit

Another question: the box for the extended editions says they have Appendices 7-12. Is there an Appendices 1-6? Or is 1-6 the movie discs?

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

I hear ya there, BC. I'm working toward the 5k myself and sometimes you just can't get it going for whatever reason. Some days the body just doesn't react as well to the demands of running as others.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Hah, yeah part of the mystique of LotR was the fact that I was super small when they were big and it seemed very "high fantasy" to my 8 or 9 year old self. :O

Thank you all for the well wishes, and yes, I'll be raising a pint on January 3rd! :viking:

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Glad to hear you're on the mend! In quite the opposite fashion, I have been slowly destroying my body with consumption this week...I turned 21 on Monday and have been taking in a seemingly constant gift train of booze and thanksgiving desserts. xP

Re: The Hobbit

So is there an official Blu Ray box set of all three Extended editions out yet? Or a DVD version? Looking for something similar to the Gold slip case, 12 disc EE megaset of LotR that I have. :coolsmile

Re: New Movies

I haven't heard of that one, but I too love anything Wild West related! I'll have to keep my eyes out for it. :O

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Can you get elven royalty blades wholesale from the Bree Costco? Maybe that's what the "troll hoard" really was! You think JRRT is going to have a COSTCO in Bree? REALLY??? I mean, like JRRT even knows what a COSTCO is? Jeez, you are denser than a blockheaded Bracegirdle from Hard...
