Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Lots of reasons, but primarily because we did not know for sure if that was even going to appear in AUJ. We had to start developing the products over a year before we had seen film 1. We had no scripts, just photos of the prop weapons and armor made for the two films when we started. There was not ...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

I will order, but I am not happy about the price, I don't see any logical reason for Elendil to be priced 150$ more than the most recent CS GtW. Thankfully the pre order window is open for 4 weeks and I will use some WB from the Argonath to pay for a good chunk of the deposit. I'm pretty sure this ...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Those look great Kit! Thanks for sharing! As for the wearablity well I have a 7 1/4 hat size So i am swimming in every helmet I own anyways so it's not a issue for me. I look like one of those kids the Rohirrim arm for Helms Deep when I wear my Elendil or Isildur helmets haha Yes I spy a Gondorian f...

Re: The Rings Of Power

Well, I really want to like this show, but they're making absolutely everything they can to ruin it... And they're succeeding. Apparently Amazon Prime Video UK uploaded this cringeworty video with random people acting as 'LOTR superfans' and asked them to comment on the teaser trailer. It's so awfu...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

That is actually a really great idea for a MC, that moment after he picks it up and is holding it and you can see the self doubt on his face. I like the moment in the movie; I despised the fact that they portrayed Aragorn as full of self-doubt and spurning his heritage by not wanting to be king. It...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Btw if you guys did a limited run of like 100 of these in a scale that is 1:1 with your shards I would buy one in a heart beat. And actually if you doubled the size of this one to be in scale with the actual mini shards a d gave it a accurate paint job that might do really well. There is at least o...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Man I really like this collectible, it's one I looked long and hard for. Is there any chance that this one will have a accurate paint job Kit? The real set piece was a like a pink sandstone color, in the one scene that it is featured prominently in it appears greyish blue due to the lighting, but th...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

That makes sense Idril, for me edition size doesn't mean a thing to me. They made thousands of the original rwos and Sauron yet twenty years later they are worth far more than what they retailed for. If I like a piece, I buy it or plan to buy it, regardless of how many they made. If I'm being honest...

Re: Advice to bring up the colour of SSW mini helmets

Have you tried dusting them Leo? When I got my Numenorean helmet, and others I had to give them a really good dusting, a make-up brush works well. I have indeed; the bases were full of dust too. But now I was looking for some more lasting changes. I'll probably try using steel wool to polish out th...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

That is good to hear, hopefully the dagger does well, when it comes to Boromir's shield, I would rather wait and get a wood and leather version than a poly version . I'm sure you have brought this up to UC but what do you think the odds are that UC is interested in making the Nazgul guantlets? Assu...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

Ha I'd have to have something in my bank account for that to happen! Oh, in that case, allow me to rephrase... your credit card is going to be in tears. I usually have pretty good restraint when it comes to pre ordering, I only have three at the moment, it's eBay deals that I have to be car...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

No hints yet, sometimes other retailers leak photos a few days ahead of SDCC but if you've waited that long, better to wait a few days for the real Weta reveals. Daniel might give us a few hints though. Here's a hint for you, free of charge... your bank account is going to be in tears. Ha I...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

It sold very well, I am told. That's why they said go on the dagger. I have been trying to get that made for a long, long time. UC does not have a reliable maker for a proper wood and leather shield at the moment, so even if the economy were not being tanked and they wanted to make it, I not sure n...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

That is just so bizarre, I would have thought it would have been their first choice, it just seems like a no brainer. It gets the most screen time, and belongs to a member of the fellowship. But with UC doing Boromir's horn and now knife I hope they will do his shield, I would think it would be eas...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I have never been able to get them interested in Boromir's shield, at the old or the current UC. It has not been something they have ever had lots of requests for either, but it's the same with the dagger. Maybe if the dagger sells well, it will spark interest in doing the sword scabbard and shield...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Hi Kit, with UC taking on Boromir's dagger, do you think there is any chance that UC makes a replica of Boromir's shield? That shield is one of the iconic weapons/gear of the fellowship, and it's pretty surprising that after 20 years there is no licensed replica of the most recognizable shield in th...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

I don't even think that's on their list to develop, but they will probably want to take a break from Rohan helms for the next one. I think finishing the High Elven War Helm edition that was started at the old United, and finishing the run of WitchKing helms is what they want to focus on next. We al...

User Group Colors

One suggestion that I might add is with the forum user group colors, general members names who are in white are nearly impossible to read, it would be great if their color was changed so when reading through threads and posts I can see who wrote them, or the ability to turn the forum to a "dark...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

That is great news! Looking forward to seeing Faramirs sword, I hope that there is enough interest in the third Ringwraith sword, you gotta think that completionists out there would buy it to complete their Ringwraith collection, same with the Witchkings Morning star. That makes alot of sense regard...

Re: United Cutlery's - LOTR & The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Hi KIt the Rohan ax is looking pretty good! I am curious, however, why is UC making more obscure swords and weapons like that ax when there are still more high profile replicas that haven't been made, like the third Ringwraith sword, Faramirs sword, or the Witchkings morning star. Don't get me wrong...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

With gas hitting 2$ a litre right now it might have been cheaper the have it shipped to Vancouver! Says the guy who lives in Alberta and gets gas 50 cents cheaper than his fellow Canadians! How about sharing some of that oil? I'm kidding though, as I know a big part of the discrepancy are provincia...

Re: New Weta everywhere you look!

I'll happily trade your $100 TB for my $450 TB because, due to the double box, weight, and size, had to come via UPS, which is basically highway robbery disguised as a shipping service. Just spoke to a friend of mine here in Vancouver who also ordered Bilbo and his shipping will be $150 usd, or rou...

Buckeye wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 6:32 am Well, I pulled the trigger on Bag End. With everything I already have on order, it's a lot more money out the door. But I really like it and feel l need a BE in my collection.
That was my thinking as well, I don't have BagEnd and I figured I'll get the ultimate version.

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

Hi Kit are there any plans to re-release Gimli's battle axe and walking axe? I have not heard anything about a new run of the battle axes. UC discussed making another run of walking axes last month, but it looks like the original casting molds, which were very worn, are now broken. It's too expensi...

Re: Giving Character to some of these UC replicas!

Looks much better Andrew! Thought I would post my weathered Witch-King sword here, I found it without a plaque and in rough shape which made it a good contender I always thought it was too clean from the factory so I wanted to make it look like it had been in the saddle with a wraith for months. I w...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

It looks like UC is considering reissuing the Isildur sword. That's one of the few LOTR swords that only had one run. It was the first sword made in their China sword factory also, so it never really matched the rest of the line. The blade was polished too much and they botched up the grip. If it h...

Re: United Cutlery's - The Hobbit - Movie Props!

For those of you that wanted a plain LOTR wood helmet stand to make all of your helm replicas match, I think you may be getting your wish. A new run of metal helms and stands is being made, and I was asked to work up a generic logo shield for a separate run of those stands that will be sold as a st...
