Concerning Danters

1
Well, some sort of introduction seems in order so here goes,
I started collecting the UC LotR swords back when they first came out but a combination of getting a house with a then girlfriend and issues with work soon put a stop to that, but i was happy with what i had. The relationship fell apart and a lot of what i had, i had to sell to cover the mortgage, but thats history now.
For the last three years i've been house sitting for a couple, and came back to what was left of my UC collection only to find they had been attacked by the dreaded rust spots (never trust others with them :) ) so out came the wd40 and a lot of elbow grease until now they look good as new (bar my Elendil helm that still needs more work). That was my first mistake, sitting there, watching the extended editions, polishing my swords, i could feel the old bug again, so off onto the internet to see what had been happening to United Cutlery.
And so i found this place, i couldnt of asked for anywhere more informative, that rekindled my love of all things Tolkien, and the wonderful takes on the weapons of that world. After adding a Ringwraith and MC sting to my collection, and as of last night with any luck, an Elven Knife of Strider, and Herugrim, my wallets feeling a lot lighter but i can't wait to search for more.
I suppose i had better include a little about myself, i tend to work a lot, i play some mmo's, i've spent the last year learning to play the guitar (with a long way to go yet) and love listening to music or reading, i have a better half that would crucify me if she knew how much some of these cost :P , and probably some other stuff but its getting late here so i'll be quiet now.
So yeah, just wanted to say hey, and thanks for all i've learned from the forum so far :) before i'm back off to trawl certain auction sites until i find Anduril's and Strider's scabbards. And one last thing, a big thank you to Valkrist for helping me get on the forums!

By the way, what kind of guitar are you playing? I play myself.[/quote]

Welcome aboard, Danters.

Looks like you've already snagged a few of the hard[er]-to-get weapons.

As i said, only started playing a year ago so haven't got anything special, but i usually swap between a Yamaha FG720S and a LTD EC1000 depending on what i'm learning. What sort do you have?

Cheers for the welcomes :) i'm looking forward to finally contributing rather than lurking lol

Nice gear! One of my friends has a Yamaha FG 12 string. Not a bad series, although his needed the neck bent back into place. Good thing he only payed about $50 for it. That Ltd looks like a real shredding machine! Not really my sound, but a good sound nonetheless. Actually, my bandmates would probably prefer it if I had one of those, rather than rigging up a bunch of pedals to keep my hollow body from feedbacking...but I like my hollow. :P

I used to play, the stopped, then picked up guitar again two summers ago (2011) so I've got a little playing under my belt. Not that I'm any good! I play an Epiphone Casino full hollowbody electric, plugged into a Carvin Vintage tube half stack. Not a bad setup, for a hobbyist who barely gigs. I also play an Ibanez AEL30SE Acoustic-Electric. Best bang for the buck ever, those Ibanez AE's. Big, jumbo body an all. And then I play on a Hofner Violin bass for the low end. I love the sound, but I could use something else with more low end...I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on an American P-Bass or that Geddy Lee Sig Jazz Bass I want so bad, even at Black Friday prices. Gots to save for The Hobbit! :thumbs_up

Oh yeah, and college.

Anyhow, out of curiosity, what kind of music do you like to play/listen to? I'm a classic/soft/folk/Brit Rock person myself, but I do like just about everything in some capactiy, from classical to jazz to metal (yeah, I like Blind Guardian). Sorry for talking your ear off!

Wow Fingolfin, you do know how to make a guy jealous lol, do like the look of that Ibanez, may have a closer look at it next year. Love my Ltd, felt so natural when i play it, tis a great feeling.
As for listening too, i tend to go through different phases depending on what i hear, but atm listening to a lot of Muse/Nirvana/Foo Fighters/and Pink Floyd. Recently upgraded my sound system so everything is sounding amazing, nothing like a bit of good music to inspire a few hours of practice :)
