I purchased a Lothlorien bow from Justin @ Bowstick and decided to try my hand at sculpting the designs on the bow. He was kind enough to address the needs I had for the bow (I wanted it as close in shape as the real thing so I wasn't concerned with functionality, because I wanted it for display only.) It took me over 3 weeks, but I'm finally done & pretty happy with the results. I also purchased some elven arrows from him too. I was lucky to find the licensed peacock quiver on that auction site a couple of months ago for a very good price.
Sorry for the crappy pictures but it was the best I could do.

Re: My Lothlorien bow
4I have a question: in the movie, the Lorien bow looks all one-colour, where basically the raised leaf designs are golden like the rest of the bow itself, and have a lacquered sheen to them. Is there a reason the Bowstick version has them in white? Is this due to licensing reasons? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Could someone please paste a clear photo of the movie prop if they have one? I have the Weapons and Warfare book, but the two pictures of the Lorien bow in there are not the greatest, though they do seem to bear out what I am saying.
Re: My Lothlorien bow
5I have a feeling that the white is just how the design work is shipped... and then after the bow and decorations are added, it can be painted or whatever the process may be.

6That's possible, but all the pics of the Bowstick Lorien bow that I have seen seem to be the finished product, and the decorations are white. Arwyniel also seems to have left hers as white (I assume you are a 'she', please correct me if I am wrong.)
Re: My Lothlorien bow
7Thanks everyone.
Valkrist, here are some pictures of the prop:

The bow was shipped without anything on it. (It is a non functional bow, meant to display only.) The apoxie is white, so that's why the designs are white. I could paint it if I wanted to, but right now I like it just the way it is. Plus I'm not quite sure if I want to risk changing what I've already done if painting it doesn't work out.
I do have the daggers too, just didn't feel like getting them out at the time.

8Thanks for those pics. So the carvings are indeed white on the prop, though they have a 'dirty' and worn look to them that makes them seem darker. Makes sense.
