I'll probably get it. The NECA Gandalf looks amazing, and I think this Balrog will look great next to it.
I hope it is bigger than 20 inches though. That's barely bigger than the Aragorn, Legolas, and Gandalf figures. If it does end up costing around $80+ then I think it should be over 30 inches.
Tbh, I think it would be cool it they put it to scale with their figures, but then it would have to be enormous...still, that would be sweet!

I think it would be around to scale if they made about the size of the small scale Balrog sculpture from the WETA workshop, which I think was about 4 feet tall, its in the EE special features.

Lol, exactly, which in other words means there is absolutley no chance of it being to scale :laugh_pur

If it's not to scale they could at least make it light up or something. That would be pretty cool if they did it right, instead of most other crappy light up toys out there. It looks real nice as it is too, but they could always go the extra mile and make a big @$$ version of it. Then it would cost a whole lot of money.

Indeed. I wouldn't mind paying the money though. These are the most accurate non-WETA figures on the market, so if they were to make a big and e xp ensive Balrog, you'd see and know it was worth it

I could make a giant paper mache Balrog lol! And then buy the NECA Gandlaf to put next to it. Now a new problem has emerged, where should I put it...

Lol, an interesting idea. You must have renowned paper mache-ing skills to even consider making a Balrog! I dread to think what would happen if I ever attempted it :rolleyes_

lol, nah, I used to do this paper mache stuff a while ago, I made a bear, and a jaguar head lol. I'll try to post pics if I can make one...

In the mean time though, does anyone know when this NECA Balrog is supposed to come out? That link mastersword 36 posted said 2005, but can anyone be more specific?
Also, when does Gandalf come out? Or is it out already?

That does look pretty big! It could always be bigger though.

When you get it, you should make one of those toybiz comic things, like a moria one with Gandalf and the balrog.

This Balrog is looking good, no doubt. I'll probably have to set aside $100 to get this for sure, but maybe my dad will go halves with me...

My advise to those interested is pre-order.I already know of 2 major retailers which have sold all their stock already.

Well that's good news. NECA hadn't actually confirmed they were making it, and decided to see how many pre-orders were placed. Obviously a lot were placed, or enough to justify making 5000 (I think they're making 5000...). Smart move on their behalf. Last thing you need is e xp ensive stock that's difficult to sell.
Not sure if I'll get one anymore, but we'll see. I'm kind of thinking about getting NC's Ring of Barahir...

I got my Balrog in a couple days ago. Its massive, 26.5" inches from foot to wing. I wish I could have come up with a better display but his size really limits you.
