TV Version vs. Extended Edition

1
I was watching the TV version of the movie FOTR on TNT and noticed it included the scene where they are all blindfolded entering Calas Galadhon. Even included the scene of them climbing into the trees ... why does the extended edition not have this? Is there a version that has more footage than the extended edition that i dont know about? KIT!!

Good eye, Justin. This scene was modified for the Extended release by showing the alternate, lengthier version. In the original theatrical and televised release, when the fellowship is surprised by Haldir and the elves, there is a brief exchange, and then they are escorted into Caras Galadhon. In the extended version, the elven ambush is cut much shorter, and is then followed by a nightime scene on a treetop where Aragorn argues at length with Haldir about allowing the fellowship into the forbidden wood. The extended version of this part of the movie is much longer, but it does play out in a slightly different format from the original cut. There are a few other spots in the extended that (aside from the inclusion of more footage,) do play out ever-so slightly differently than the original.

For the Lorien part, I prefer the extended version, though it irks me a bit that they left out the scenes with the goblins from Moria chasing the fellowship into the forest, and the ensuing fight (this happens in the book.) I think the reason this was done is that in the original scene, the Galadhrim rescue the fellowship from the goblins, but PJ opted to leave it out because it would spoil the drama of having the elves surprise and capture the fellowship later on.
