Hey guys,

While searching for deals on Amazon, I came across this store. They have pretty low prices on a couple of LOTR items I want and was wondering if anyone here ever bought from them or even heard of them: http://www.sworddemon.com/

I sent them an email to ask if they ship to Canada before getting my hopes up.

Val, you might want to read this before you order from them....

Well, this is why I ask you guys before taking the plunge.

I wish you could read more about the specific problems beyond the generic 'Problems with Product/Service' tags.

On the other hand, Amazon.com lists them at 96% positive, with 16,430 ratings, which is nothing to sneeze at. I read a few of them and people seem very pleased.

Opinions?

Google "sworddemon.com reviews" and you should be able to find more information, like reviews from customers. I often do that when I find an item on a website that I am unfamiliar with.

Sometimes things go wrong and customers are quick to cast blame at the seller and post negative reviews about them. At 96% positive I would buy from them. Like I said if something goes wrong, the customers don't really give the seller time to deal with problems. Also you'll be covered by paypal

Huh? I count at least 14 pieces over two pages.

EG, yeah, I agree. Also, I would probably order through Amazon, which is not paypal, but handles the transaction on behalf of the seller, therefore is very secure.

I actually just picked up my Samwise sword (Weathered/Museum Edition) from this seller; through Amazon back in mid February. Everything went well, no complaints. I agree with the Amazon path, makes it much easier IF issues do arise.

Thanks, Rosere, that's reassuring. :)

I've still not heard back from them, but it has been less than a day since I sent the email. I can always try to put them items in the cart on Amazon and then proceed to checkout. It will tell me right there and then if the items will ship to Canada or not. My main concern is that on the website they say they use both USPS and UPS, and I hate UPS because of the ridiculous broker fees they charge when crossing the border.

Right EG. We are going to let Valkrist be the Sword Demon guinea pig, and if all goes well, the rest of us will be OK with ordering from them. :D

I guess you missed the part where Rosere said he already ordered from them and had no issues? ;)

lol... yeah, in that respect, you are right. :D

Also, they still haven't replied to my email yet, which always sets off alarms with me. I mean, you're running a business right? How hard is it to have someone reading and answering emails? Whatever happened to good customer service?

I also came to a realization this evening: when the Hobbit swords start to come out, I don't have a reliable retailer that I can order from! I got the bulk of my LOTR stuff from Mithril Armory before they went under, and then I started buying from Smithblades but it seems Derek is in the process of winding down his business. So where do I turn now? Kult of Athena seems reliable but their prices tend to be a bit higher than normal. Maybe Museum Replicas? :|

I was under the impression that Derek was going to start selling again when the Hobbit comes out...?

You may be right, but I didn't see/read that.

At any rate, I just checked out Museum Replicas and the only LOTR stuff they have are latex replicas for LARPing. Didn't they sell UC stuff at one point? :(

Well, that settles that. As I found out through Amazon, Sword Demon doesn't ship to Canada. :(

The search continues.
