I am very sorry to report that Grace Lee Whitney, Yeoman Janice Rand of Star Trek original series fame, died today at age 85. Though she was only in eight episodes, she made an outsized impression on fans, no doubt in part due to her stunning beauty.

Re: RIP, Grace Lee Whitney
2Oh man, that is sad indeed. First Nimoy, now Whitney. Turning into a bad year for Star Trek alums.
I remember fondly the episodes she starred in, and as one of my first ever TV crushes. Only Shatner, Nichols, Takei, and Koenig left.

3It is my hope that whenever either Shatner or Takei dies, the other one can be gracious about it and just say positive things, and not even mention the silly feud that they have for so many years. I don't hold out any hope that they will ever patch things up before one of them dies.

4This is sad news. As a casual fan, even I recognize and remember her. Sounds like she had a hell of a time in Hollywood but made the best of it, it's sad to lose yet another member of the TOS cast.

Re: RIP, Grace Lee Whitney
5Sad indeed, and just really makes you take a step back and realize the obvious, the TOS cast are getting older and older. As e xp ensive as it is, I might have to shell out the $60 to get a pic with George Takei at Comicpalooza in a few weeks.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
